Stephen Hill, 43rd overall released and not yet picked up. Seems Miami looked at him in a workout.

Should have stayed another year. Wasn't close to ready for the nfl

He wasn't ready, but he went in the 2nd round, so hard to argue with his decision. Had he gone to a team with strong leadership things might've been different. Instead he went to a team without any offensive leaders in a city full of distractions.

I hope he gets another chance and I'll never understand the a-holes on here who take pleasure in watching our players fail (like Hill and Dwyer). They might have some flaws, but they are our own, so stop being a db and pull for them.

He made paydirt. Whether he could have made more after another year at Tech, while weighing the risk of a significant injury, we'll never know. But I suspect his agent, who stands to gain from Stephen's gain, made an informed and self-interested decision.

The only real blunder we've had lately with early departures is with Jon Dwyer's NFL combine and subsequent freefall down the draft order.

Stephen absolutely made the right decision to leave for 2nd round draft money. I think the program he ended up at wasn't a good place to be, but I can't fault him for choosing to go now instead of waiting a year to hope to get into round 1.

I don't think going in the 2nd round necessarily justifies his decision. Had he stayed and had another good year and developed some more, he could've gone then or earlier AND had some staying power in the NFL (which means more $$$). Now, I don't know exactly how our coaching system works or how much development he could've received besides how to block a DB into the ground, but I never thought he was NFL ready when he left.

He's tall and very fast AND lacks the most important skill a WR can possess, a decent set of soft hands. The people that drooled over him at the combine forgot to verify if he could actually catch a football with consistency. Watching game tape in the offense that SUPPOSEDLY held him back would have easily given the scouts a clue that he struggles in catching a football.

Didn't we have 1 or 2 linemen leave early a few years ago that didn't go drafted at all?

Nick Claytor is the one I can think of. Tarrant also left early I think.

The dumbest one ever was CJ Williams.

I guess it says something about the wisdom of their decisions that I forgot about these guys.

I feel bad for Stephen in some ways. He obviously wasn't ready to make the jump, but I don't think he could have improved his stock in any way by staying. Perhaps he would have matured some, but perhaps not. I think he went to just about the worst possible destination to develop given the system he was coming out of. Thought him and Geno had a little bit of chemistry, but guess the Jets didn't see it. Hopefully he can do better in his next destination, I saw he signed a PSquad contract with someone, Panthers?

Maybe the Jets did see it. They are committed to destroying every QB they can get their hands on, and they know öööö well what they are doing.

I am sorry he has not done better in the NFL. But, how would the outcome be any different if he played another year in college? He was picked in Round 2, has made really good money for a couple of years, and certainly has plenty to pay for the rest of his college education. I think he was lucky he played at Tech. I really don't see him as an NFL star. But, in our offense, no one saw him play like you play in the NFL. They saw just enough from him to be interested in his potential and knew that he had been taught to block. He was worth a pick.

From what I understand of the situaiton, he might not have played if he had stayed. Remember, he had some issues with grades and other extra curricular stuff. My guess is that he would have not been academically elligible if he had stayed for his last year. I hope he is succesful in whatever he does regardless.
