After todays game I think it's an interesting time to predict our final record

Thought they were still sucking UNC's dick. Did they give up on that? Pitt lost their QB would should hurt them. I'm not sure how good/bad they are this year.
 
Record wise, I am actually more optimistic this week. We finished the 3-game warm-up to the ACC schedule with a perfect record. It was not pretty, and there are definitely concerns, but the team showed the ability to make plays when they needed to.

A week after looking like they were legit, VT looks like a team that can be beat. When the best looking teams in the division include UVa and Duke, any team could go 7-1 in conference play. Regardless of what happens next week, we then have a bye to work on the problems.

JT is looking like the kind of QB we hoped for, and will continue to improve. Many people on this board expected him to be injured by now, which could still happen, but he seems to know how to avoid dangerous hits. Byerly is a solid replacement for this offense if needed.

We are extremely young on defense, but the offense has the potential to give us a chance in the shootouts. Hopefully, the young guys will grow up quickly.

I think 8-4 (5-3) is a conservative prediction, and could even put us within a tie-breaker of going to the ACCCG in a year like this.

Imo, if we win those 6, we will win one of the other 4. It will take a pretty good team to win all 6 of those you listed.
 
As bad as we look sometimes, most of our future opponents looks just as shaky. Still in the 9-3/8-4 boat
 
I say pick a number between 1 and 9 right now and you have the same odds as anyone else. Everyone on the schedule is beatable, but we could lose any game as well. I still think that 8-4 is the lowest reasonable outcome right now and 11-1 is the best. I will say 9-3 regular season and 10-4 overall.
 
I'm going from 8-4 to 7-5. Pitt and UVA seem to be better, so I think one of those turns into an L. Feeling better about UNC, though.
 
The problems we are having the past 3 games are going to manifest themselves once we start playing ACC teams with a higher level of talent. Right now I think 2 ACC wins.
 
wow, we just won a game by 4 over a team in which we were 20 pt favorites and some are ENCOURAGED
if we reach 6-6 it will be a huge win with this defense

Wow.

Lowest reasonable estimate is 6-6.
Highest reasonable estimate is 9-3.
Most likely is 7-5.
 
I'm more encouraged now than before the GaSo game.

No more guessing where fixes are needed.
They were all on full display.

I think we will be vastly improved in all areas going forward

I'm sticking with 10-2, only with possible losses vs Miami & UNC.

Yes, I think we'll win the Coastal and lose a close one to FSU.

Guess you win the optimist award or perhaps watched our game with your eyes closed, or did you think we were the team in blue unis perhaps?
 
I'm thinking 7-5 or 6-6....

If we go 6-6, that means we are most likely going to lose 4 out of our next 5 and things are going to get real ugly here. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see many easy wins left on our schedule. I mean, I doubt we will be favored by double digits in any game going forward.

Was at the game.

Watched our O roll up 35 pts (with ease) in one half,
and our D hold an opponent to 10 pts.

With GT at 50 yard line with possession and 4 minutes until halftime,
if we run the ball instead of throwing it, then its likely 42-10 at half.

We simply went to sleep in 2nd half on O & D.

But, we all saw what we're really capable of.

Does anyone really believe, after that 2nd half crapfest,
that we're going have that happen again this season?

I sure as hell dont.

IMO, whatever happened is gonna get fixed, PDQ !
