Lack of talent on D

When is the last time we got excited about a recruit on D? Maybe the guy from England who played football for one year? That one has not worked out so well yet.

Why the F do we run a "bend but don't break defense," when we have the most inflexible coach in college football? I need more MF rock. This paper and scissors crap is ridiculous.

It is tough to call "Rock" when you don't have a friggin rock. Our best D-lineman by far is Gotsis, let that sink in.

Also lost Justin Akin and Jimmie Kitchen, both of who were coming along nicely. Add in Robbins and Commisiong and that's a lot guys to be losing from your DL before camp even starts.

10/16 on 3rd down tonight, right on par with this group. We are 101st in the nation on the year.

We probably are near the top in 3rd down attempts forced, but can't get off the field when it counts.

We'd look about the same. None of those guys were game changers.

Which of our DL guys other than Gotsis is as good as Commissiong?

I'll hang up and listen.

Annnnnnd, we have a winner.

I doubt any coach would want to deal with our dumpster fire of a defensive unit this year.

Who cares about guys not even on the team. Doesn't matter.

They guy that said we have a lack of talent on D? The fact that a significant portion of our "talent" left the team this year surely is relevant.

But I suppose you are just trolling for idiots.

Doesn't that mean there's a lack of talent or at a minimum depth? That's what most folks are saying. The depth and talent suck.

Guys, you can tell yourselves differently as long as you like, but the system that helps us move the ball on O, even with marginal talent, also is the system that is used very effectively to dissuade even defensive players from coming to Tech. They are told over and over about seeing that O run in spring, and how they will see limited practice against well run "NFL" type offenses. is this bull? yes, but it does work.

I disagree with this. Here are our 11 starters on D, and the other schools they had offers from according to Rivals.

KeShun Freeman (Louisville, Miami, Ole Miss, Miss St, UNC, Stanford, Tenn, West Virginia)
Adam Gotsis (none)
Shawn Green (FSU, Louisville, Mich St, Ole Miss, OK State, SCarolina, Wisconsin)
Kyle Travis (Ga Southern)

Demond Smith (Virginia Tech, Navy, Ga Southern)
Quayshawn Nealy (UGA, Louisville, Michigan, Ole Miss, Nebraska)
Paul Davis (Coastal Carolina, Chattanooga)

Chris Milton (Louisville, UNC, SCarolina, Tennessee)
Isaiah Johnson (UGA, Miami, Ole Miss, OK State, SCarolina, Stanford)
Jamal Golden (Illinois, Southern Miss, Memphis)
DJ White (Auburn, Cal, Ole Miss, Miss St, SCarolina)

Either we have incredibly bad luck with players who a number of other big schools wanted, or the coaching staffs in place have been really bad at developing that talent.

It starts with bad coaching. Then bad coaching leads to losing leads to bad recruiting, and then you're in a hole that takes time to climb out of even if you have GOOD coaching - which, to repeat myself, we don't.

UNC is a different team with just Williams playing QB. They put up 43 against Notre Dame in South Bend.

It's too bad Fedora got out of his own way and dumped the 2 QB system that's as leading to offensive ineptitude. Yes the defense isn't great especially at the line but that was probably the best offensive team we've faced and will face.
