I know this is the elephant in the room. A lot of Tech fans like to reminisce about the Tenuta years. My question is if Tenuta was our DC this season, would the defensive results be improved, or is it simply a lack of defensive talent that no coach could overcome?

Tenuta was a boom or bust DC. The style of offense we played tonight was his achilles heel....but I think the Duke outcome may have been different. Teams didn't run for 200+ yard on TENUTA!!

doubt it. Based on how we have played and techniques, not sure if mentally we strong enough to handle a scheme like Tenuta's

Should have hired Coach Kelly as DC

I think the only difference would be the number of blitz's. Results would probably be the same

With the same players, we'd be getting torched over the top every other play. And frankly Tenuta's tenure coincided with the ACC in general being pretty bad offensively.

I'd take Kelly if he could bring FSU's players with him...

Results would be the same. Good QB's / take-what-you-can-get offenses ate us up under Tenuta too.

We'd just swap wins and loses.

If we blitzed and played man we would have given up big plays but also probably gotten some turnovers and more stops. The scheme tonight was awful. "5 yards minimum no matter what play you run" is not a good defensive strategy.

Tenuta's blitzing schemes would be much better for us this year. We cant stop anyone straight up

This and then some. Guy was a huge asset at GT.

Does anyone actually know if he was offered the DC position and he turned it down to coach at FSU, or did he apply, not get the position, and then say 'screw it' and move on?

I wish we'd hure Tenuta. He would put an end to soft DB play and no cornerback would ever be in an island ever again.

GT fans are like Drew Barrymore in 50 First Dates.

Some may know, but did PJ offer Tenuta the chance to stay on as DC or did PJ dismiss him with the rest of Gailey's staff?

X1000

I understand it that he applied and didn't get it so he walked. If so, DRad goes from being a turd to being worse than Braine.

I think PJ assessed that he and Tenuta were not compatible and said 'thanks but no thanks'. I also think Tenuta wanted the HC position and didn't particularly want to work under CPJ.

Thread fail.

If Tenuta were to have stayed he'd now be in prison on manslaughter charges for stabbing CPJ in the throat with a broken clipboard.

Haha, yeah. Those cushions drove me *crazy*

I think you're right. Not sure how to deflect that from PJ anymore.

Edit: yeah, Dan was gone in October of 2012. Blame it on the interim?

Tenuta was a lot more boom than bust. I would take him in a heartbeat as our DC.
