Wait until the season is over. If we lose to Clemson, UGA, and a minor bowl, even the CPJ lovers will weaken. This season has been a mixed bag and the way we have tended to end them is still a problem. Beat two out of three of the rednecks and bowl and he will be extended.

Extend. He is the right man for the GT job. Our record vs UGA would be much better with PJ if they did not happen the have the best coach in the history of their program at the same time. Have a feeling that will change and GT will be in a good spot. Recruiting should continue to get better....imagine this offense with a defense.

Have to keep him at least until Thomas graduates. The offense is too nasty with that combo. Assuming an influx of DL next year with the frosh, JHD, and whitehead I think we could be onto something the next two years.

I vote to extend him for 2 more years at the end of this season. My reasons for offense and defense:
Offense: I am happy with JT and he will likely play 2 more years. I would like to see how those two years go for JT and CPJ.

Defense: I am not happy with defense, but I would like to give the young defense two more seasons (especially lineman) under Roof, and see how the recent recruiting works out.

I think it could be difficult to evaluate after 2015 season, because it is going to be tough with these games likely at best 50-50: @Clemson, FSU, @Notre Dame, uga, @Miami, VT, UNC
Williams, Kaaya, Watson and Golson with more experience, although Boone, Winston, DukeJ and Gurley likely gone.

2016 schedule a lot more manageable with no FSU or Notre Dame.

I am not sure if possible these days, but I would like to see buyout terms put in the contract for both sides.

I think 'letting the contract run out' will likely result in some less desirable team like Kansas or SMU offering CPJ a 5 year contract at something like $2 million a year, which would be a larger contract size than his 2 years left. We heard that Duke and SMU offered him in 2007, and possibly others after 08 and 09.

Your expectations are unreasonable if you do not think we should extend him. We have a team right now that is 7-2, despite all the forces against us as GT, with the undeniable potential for our team to get better in the next few years.

I am always a little worried about Johnson bolting for a team with less disadvantages than Tech. We need to lock him in rather than debate whether he should stay or go.

Based on Bobinski's comments before the Pittsburgh game I fully expect we will extend him, but I wonder what the timing will be. Maybe we plan to wait until after the UGA game so we can get a bargain on him if we lose.
