I thought there was a rule about consecutive timeouts though?
Duke essentially has to lose two games - I don't think there is any scenario left that has Tech going to Charlotte without that. We would have been in the driver seat with a Pitt win there, very deflating. I think they could lose to anybody left on their schedule, but it's certainly a favorable stretch (3/4 games at home and combined ACC record of 4-15).
Starting to feel a lot like 2008 where we finished the season looking like the best team but had to watch an uninspiring VT team play in the ACCCG.
Duke could easily lose to both VT and UNC. Duke could maybe even lose to Syracuse.

Historically Wake beats Duke about the same per centage that we beat Georgia. It could happen this year.Duke could easily lose to both VT and UNC. Duke could maybe even lose to Syracuse.
I would rather lose the tiebreaker after we win out and make the Orange Bowl.
There's something to be said for this.
If we were to win out (which is the only way we'd be hoping Duke to drop 2 anyway) and then get pummeled by FSU, we go to a lower bowl game than winning out and not playing FSU.
Call me a homer, but I'm not convinced we can't play with FSU. They haven't pounded many teams this year - NCSU and Louisville gave them fits and we're at least on par with them. We have an offense that would put up points on them and a defense that would give up points, but is oppurtunistic (and FSU offense has been generous with turnovers).
I think we could play with them, and sure as hell would rather win the division and have a shot at knocking up the #1 team in the country (which they'll be by then) in the ACCCG than watch Duke get spanked, but still get to brag about being double-defending Coastal champs.

NOBODY is losing to VT.
I think a couple things contributed:
#4) Cutcliffe using 2 consecutive timeouts and holding onto the third one.
#4 maybe biggest factor as much as I hate to say it.
tell that to THE Ohio State University and UNC
