Chris blewitt

I think a couple things contributed:

#1) Stupid coach for not centering the ball
#2) Stupid QB for not making a bee line for OOB if that's what coach wanted.
#3) head games due to "hard side of Heinz Field"
#4) Cutcliffe using 2 consecutive timeouts and holding onto the third one.

#4 maybe biggest factor as much as I hate to say it.

I thought there was a rule about consecutive timeouts though?

Duke essentially has to lose two games - I don't think there is any scenario left that has Tech going to Charlotte without that. We would have been in the driver seat with a Pitt win there, very deflating. I think they could lose to anybody left on their schedule, but it's certainly a favorable stretch (3/4 games at home and combined ACC record of 4-15).

Starting to feel a lot like 2008 where we finished the season looking like the best team but had to watch an uninspiring VT team play in the ACCCG.

Agree, would seem we blew our chances with the Duke loss, they were dang lucky to escape Pitt but nothing to do for us but forge ahead and make what we can of remainder of season and PLZ PLZ win the dang bowl game for a change

I believe that Blewitt was Kicky McCrappo's sidekick in the Kimmel bit. Coincidence?

Duke could easily lose to both VT and UNC. Duke could maybe even lose to Syracuse.

The line is only -3 for Duke right now. That being said, would have loved to see Louisville, Clemson, or FSU on that schedule. Or hell, even BC. Their schedule has got to be the easiest of any P5 in the country this year. Maybe in FBS (no joke).

Since when are you so unrealistically optimistic? Did 3GT invade your body or something?

NOBODY is losing to VT.

Simply put, we should have beaten Duke. Mistake prone game by GT. Sloppy. We should never lose to Duke in football. Ever.

The only thing going for us is that all 4 of Duke's remaining ACC games are against teams trying to make a bowl. That is how awful their 4 remaking games are. I could see UNC and Cuse coming out on with a huge upset. VT would do better if they punted on first down and hope their D can rack up safeties.

I would rather lose the tiebreaker after we win out and make the Orange Bowl.

There's something to be said for this.

If we were to win out (which is the only way we'd be hoping Duke to drop 2 anyway) and then get pummeled by FSU, we go to a lower bowl game than winning out and not playing FSU.

Call me a homer, but I'm not convinced we can't play with FSU. They haven't pounded many teams this year - NCSU and Louisville gave them fits and we're at least on par with them. We have an offense that would put up points on them and a defense that would give up points, but is oppurtunistic (and FSU offense has been generous with turnovers).

I think we could play with them, and sure as hell would rather win the division and have a shot at knocking up the #1 team in the country (which they'll be by then) in the ACCCG than watch Duke get spanked, but still get to brag about being double-defending Coastal champs.

We'd be in their heads with our blocking scheme, after the hoopla with The Citadel game this year. Plus, FSU defenders are morons. So, there'd be that angle, too.

Here's their offensive front.

How are we going to put any pressure on Winston? We couldn't pressure Duke, so we surely aren't going to do anything with these guys.

I gotta hand it to Cut, I was fully relaxed, expecting a third TO right before the snap. When they snapped it was almost like a surprise there wasnt a TO so I bet the kicker's timing was off. That was brilliant coaching.

tell that to THE Ohio State University and UNC

tOSU is the most overrated team of all time, and UNC, well I guess we are the only team that could lose to them this year.
