Roll call for Charlotte

Anyone had any luck finding hotels close to the stadium for a decent rate ( < $150 )? Looks like the best I can do is near the airport.

Stayed at the Red Roof near the airport last time. It was kind of sketchy, but at least Techbro and I weren't the only Tech fans there. It was cheap tho.

Charlotte Center City Hotel at $143/night.

It's a Starwood property and is attached to the Sheraton, kind of strange that it is its own hotel for booking purposes.

I stayed at a La Quinta near the airport. I think it was about $70. Not nice, but I've stayed at worse and I didn't get AIDS, so it worked out well.

Might be a good call. All I could find downtown was around $300.

NO NO NO BAD CALL.

That hotel use to be The Blake. Which use to be the old Adam's Mark in Charlotte. It is in TERRIBLE shape under the new coat of paint they put on it. I ran a Linux conference there. The basement has 6 OPEN giant lead acid batteries in it connected by OPEN bare metal plate. Lean on the thing you're gone instantly. The basement is like a bunker -- all reinforced concrete. With little to no ventilation. And several thousand open phone patch panels. So if you DO lose power ..... when it comes back those lead acid batteries will charge again. Giving off LOTS of hydrogen. In a non-ventilated area. With lots of open electrical panels. In other words a bomb.

I'd recommend the Sheraton Charlotte Airport (I've also ran a Linux event there). Right off Billy Graham Parkway as you come up I-85. Reasonable rates. Quick access. Short little drive to the stadium of maybe 15 minutes.

That's what I'm gonna do. $117 incl. taxes and airline discount ($109 base rate)

If you insist upon being close to the stadium, eat the price and stay at the Hilton or Westin next to the Convention Center. There is a Residence Inn ... I have no knowledge of its quality. All things city center have exorbitant rates. Especially when they know big events are in town. So either raise your price ($300/ni) or raise your search radius to include the Charlotte Douglas International area.

If they give you a shot to give feedback, tell them the Southeast Linuxfest sent you. But only if you don't treat your room like you're The Who. Had my event there last year and will have it there next year as well.

If I didn't suspect the hotel would end up full I'd offer to pull strings to see if you could get upgraded to a suite at no charge if available. But I doubt any will be available.

Oh, I'm going full Jameis on the room. And I'll still tell 'em you sent me.

who needs a hotel room when you are partying the whole night long after beating FSU. just get a room for the day AFTER the game. i am sure plenty will be available.

stay up all night partying to the Jackets ACC Championship. check into hotel about 1130am. sleep.
