You posted a link to set of predictors recently. Sagarin's results were worse than just about any of the others.
 
Personally, I like using the average of about the 5 or 6 best ATS tracked by The Prediction Tracker. My personal favorite is the Pi-Ratings.

Aren't those within couple points of sagarin in average results? Seems like they would have essentially same ratings for SEC...
 
Does anyone have a source for game data? I've been kicking around in my head a ranking system but don't know where to rip the scores from to get it running.

I'm not saying Sagarin is useless. But I will say that a consistent 1.2 or 1.3 point bias toward favorites would put a betting man in the poor house pretty quickly. Knowing the bias, however, might make it advantageous to the gambler to play dogs outright in situations that Sagarin likes a dog. Again, no one has done it with such consistency and over such a range of sports as Sagarin has. I just think there are new, more advanced methods out there.
 
The SEC schedules brilliantly. They have opening games against other conferences, and while most teams are preparing for conference games, they prepare for OOC games. And the end of the season, they make sure their SEC East teams are in the best possible situation to win by scheduling cupcakes or byes before their games against the ACC.

Once they've won the few, well schedules games OOC, computer rankings give them a huge boost, because the few paths heading from the SEC cluster to the rest of the world, and used to weigh them in relation with everyone else is stacked heavily in their favor.

The ACC is stupid enough to schedule high quality non P5 teams like ECU, and furthermore, coaches like Beamer don't give a öööö about that game. Instead, they are more focused on playing us the week after, losing that game, and destroying the ACC's chance of looking good, Nvm wins over USC and Ohio State by bottom feeders.

Let's not forget how rarely the SEC will play those OOC games outside of driving distance of the SEC team's stadium.

+1 This is the key. They are on top and schedule very carefully but always to their advantage. Bama in Atlanta for example, is not an away game.

I'm saying we aren't We don't have a top 25 win and our two losses are to bad teams. Compare us to the other 2 loss teams and see how it looks... I'll hang up and listen.
