Wow. That's the best they could do? They think they are going to win B1G championships with that guy?

I think even we could do better than Mike Riley. Hell, we did do better than Mike Riley back in 2007.

Second questionable coaching hire of the day... I don't get either one of these. How are they going to be better off with him than with Bo Pelini?

All that jaw jacking about how they had to be at Bama's level and then this? Nebraska is entering a genuine B1G dumpstser fire period.

Some of them were even discussing chasing CPJ.

What a weird hire.

Trying to load some Husker boards, they are very slow. Not sure why yet, but I'm hoping there's a meltdown in progress.

They were tired of 10 win seasons so they basically hired a .500 coach? Clearly, they hated Pellini's guts. Wow. Riley must've had one heck of an interview.

The only reasoning I can think of is he has been at Oregon State for 11 years. He actually coached there before and then went to the NFL and then came back to the same school. Not sure I have seen that happen before.

So he's somebody that doesn't rock the boat, unlike certain other people. He also must be great at interviewing, as he somehow got the San Diego Chargers HC job for three years with a pretty lackluster record before then and no NFL experience at all.

Could be a good hire. Oregon State isn't a school that's easy to win at, so it's impressive he's had success there.

Usc has wanted Riley since Pete Carroll left. Not a bad hire, Pelini's time was up.

I don't think he's a bad coach by any means, but when you fire a coach who took over after the Callahan fiasco and brought you back to 9 wins a year, your next hire needs to be someone with a history of winning... not a history of slightly above .500 football.

Also many top-tier hires probably said flat-out they weren't interested in coaching somewhere that fired a guy after 7 9-win seasons.

I'm very disappointed in the Husker fans reaction, they are too calm and supportive. These guys do not know how to properly light a dumpster fire.

Bo Pelini is now laughing uncontrollably somewhere.
Nebraska just proved everything that the media said about Nebraska not being a premier program and destination anymore was EXACTLY RIGHT.
As a Duck fan I hate this hire. I really enjoyed putting a W on the calendar next to Oregon State in the pre-season. I hope now they don't stumble into somebody good this time.
