Best play/game of the year

It's the wrong kind of weed for smoking--they are hedges from Sanford stadium.

I agree with OP, the most important play outside the UGA game is the 4th and 15 completion against VT. We lose to VT once again if not for that play. Beating VT was a turning point for the program. It was what initially separated this season from the three before. No ACC Championship berth without that play. Losing to them would have been a pall over this season.

ding,ding--we have a great possible winner
without it we probably would not had #2--the 53 yd FG vs uga

Not the best play by any means, but I think Golden deserves credit for his punt returns just because he didn't turn the ball over.

It wasn't too long ago that we all had to hold our breath on a punt catch because we were worried about the potential turnover.

During that season, I seriously thought that we should go without a punt returner just to eliminate that risk.

Reminds me of that horrible Air Force game... :frown: Hopefully we're never going back to 2010.

Golden did fumble one early in the season that we recovered. But not losing any is great. More important than having a good return.

The ghost of Pat Clark still haunts many of your minds. The Air Force game aside, we've been fairly solid at catching punts in CPJ's tenure. Tarrant, Ipod, and Golden have all been pretty reliable (probably missing a couple guys, Smelter maybe?)

Absolutely has to be the kick. We don't beat UGAg without it.

also I remember our DB (name?) vs unc in '99? that dropped TWO in game-but we still won

completely drained in the UGA overtime. Was certain they would score TD, kick EP and win by one. When the announcer said "White interception, Ga Tech wins" I didn't believe it..kept waiting for a flag.

What a year.

LOL It was a good 30 seconds after the play that I began to believe that it had actually happened!

The theme here... Defense's will-to-win attitude. 3 chase downs from behind that easily couldve been TDs but ultimately propel our season to incredible heights. Forced fumble vs. GSU. Goal line stands at UGA, zero 2nd half TDs vs. FSU.

Not the best defensive stats, not the most athletic squad... but öööö they have heart.
These plays go to show, how easy, a 10 win season could have easily been a 7 win season. Not much of a margin. When we finally get a defense that is consistent the margin for 10 wins will be larger.

Exactly. Conversely, a 7 win season can easily be a 10 win season when you get some breaks. PJ got some bad breaks past few years, and it mostly wasn't attributable to the guy behind center. I tried to make this point last few years but no one would listen--"you make your own luck" and similar dumb responses. Glad his luck finally changed.

Well, we have 3 weeks to reflect on this awesome and pleasantly surprising season, so what is your best play/game of the season so far?

Obviously, the UGA game is the first that comes to mind, but I'm more thinking of under the radar plays/games that affected this season.

Mine- I think the Georgia Southern win was a huge one, especially with how it was won. Helped pull out close victories down the road such as Miami, VT, UGA, etc and also learned to not take the pedal off the gas. If GT loses that one who knows how this season ends up. It reminded me a lot of the Miami game a couple years ago, and we all know how the team reacted in the following weeks after blowing that game.

As for play- my choice is the Thomas-Smelter 4th and 15 play against VT.
My pick also. Not only did we win, but the relief I'm sure everyone felt about now having the pro-UGA media hound us about blowing a 25 point lead and losing to a inferior team. I think this might have crushed us.
