Will it be the year other power 5 teams start trying to copy large parts of our offense? No longer will teams be able to claim it won't work on the power conference level. Will a team take a chance on Navy's coach?

Musburger said more teams should be running it.

Didn't hear him say it. It will be interesting the first time we see a team line up in it that is in a power conference. Probably gonna look like slow motion compared to us.

Teams will try to implement parts of it, and the results will be awful.

I always try to explain to opposing fans that our QB being under center is what makes our offense so fast and hard to defend. Pistol read options put the QB 3-5 yards back and have him pause to read the defense after the snap. If they run a dive form pistol, it starts 5 yards behind the LOS. Just öööö stupid

They may try some principles but a huge part of our offense is Johnson's knowledge with tweaking it. Our offense has a totally different kind of philosophy really from most and if you can't wrap your head around it, you won't have any success.

It can work that way, but it means any penetration, anywhere in the line, will crush the play. We can lose to penetration too but not just anywhere (ie Clemson DT's blowing through our line while we run the other way)

2008, I sat in the stands confused as to what was going on most games. I was looking at the wrong players. I didn't understand much of any of our offense that first year. This season, I was trying to read the defense to see what I would do if I were QB. Miami playing 2 deep safeties and a MLB 8 yards off the ball was an easy one.

I think you'll see Monken and Niumatalolo poached in the next 2-3 years by schools similar to GT. No big names. But still, it will stop being, "well, it's only GT and the service academies that run it."

Get a couple small schools to do a bit better than usual and maybe the elements will start to get picked up. If I were a GA at GT, I would soak up everything possible from PJ while I could. His coaching tree in FBS is likely to get larger.

The more the merrier. Then we don't have to worry about them passing silly rules to try and ban it.

He didn't say it in general. He said schools like Vandy should run it. The implication is it requires intelligence and discipline at all positions to run it. But that it compensates for less physical talent.

It only works well when you have some of both though. Thomas making the same decisions with half a second slower speed is not as threatening or effective.

It's funny what winning will do. We went from "Why are we running this archaic offense?" to implications of CPJ's coaching tree getting bigger.

LOL. I love it.

My favorite play of the night.

JRjr

And while Golden was destroying the running back and we were recovering the fumble, the entire MSU team and Mullen looked bewildered as to how it happened. It happened because you started an option play 8 yards behind the LOS.

I have watched the replay probably 10X. Golden reads it beautifully from the start. Thanks for running the shotgun read option and giving him a head start Mullen.

Plays happen because of execution, or the lack thereof. Their tight end should have blocked Golden. Instead he brushed him and went outside. The couple of times we had our outside option thrown for a big loss Bostic missed blocks. Focus and execution - it boils down to that. (Not trying to be negative about Bostic, he had a tremendous block on JT's TD run on that epic drive - six handoffs to the B-back capped by a QB keeper for the TD.)

Should have, but Golden read the play and was coming too hard for the TE to react. If we can get better perimeter blocking, we will blow out teams going forward.

Did we end up holding on to the record for the most efficient offense OF ALL TIME ??? I don't recall the link to the listing.
