Anybody have a link to Mark May shilling for the SEC on SC after the Orange Bowl? Did Galloway give him grief?

Galloway cornered his argument with "if every game counts, then hey every game counts" but didn't really buck the SEC too hard. I'd love to get Mark May's take today on what he said prior to the Sugar Bowl, though.

Thanks for the summary -- I'd love to see it, though.

Also, what is Cowturd going to be saying today? He's dined out on "the SEC is great/big-boy football" schtick for years now ... :furious:

These guys probably had a drill prepared for this, and it seems like they are executing it pretty well so far: dig underground and hybernate until signing day, then re-emerge and hoist the flags again.

Actually for the past year he has been banging the SEC as 'down and overrated.'

He was having fun trolling the SEC for the hour of his show that I heard today. He had Finebaum on and Finebaum was pretty quiet. His show should be golden today.

I'm pleased to hear that -- I haven't been listening to his show for the better part of 3 years or more, so clearly I missed the change of tune!

I thought May took CPJ's comment wrong. Paul Johnson was not jabbing ESPN as much as just expressing satisfaction to not hear about SEC supremacy for a week or two after beating both SEC Bulldogs. If Mark May understood the Atlanta football culture he would understand our main beef is with the local media discounting our program when measured against the SEC.

May got all bothered and accused him of jealousy and defending ESPN's coverage of the SEC because they win the big ones when it counts and their championship record speaks for itself. To me, it simply showed May is sensitive to any critique of SEC bias because he knows its true.

"Methinks he doth protest too much."

You guys do realize that if LSU, Alabama, Mississippi, Mississippi State, and Auburn played those games over again, they would assuredly win. In fact, if they played them all 10X they would win 9 of 10. BTW, I am ööööing with y'all

Comment I heard was that the SEC East is still undefeated in bowls.

SEC East - Rivalry Week
Georgia Tech 30, Georgia 24
Clemson 35, South Carolina 17
Louisville 44, Kentucky 40
Florida State 24, Florida 19

SEC West - Bowl Week
Georgia Tech 49, Mississippi State 34
TCU 42, Ole Miss 3
Notre Dame 31, LSU 28
Wisconsin 34, Auburn 31
Ohio State 42, Alabama 35

Yep. After ESPN circled the wagons around the SEC West and tried to sever it from the East's 0-4 rivalry week, now I've heard multiple people point out that the East had some good bowl wins, and the West's losses were quality losses. SMH.

Never have been a big May fan. You kinda get the feeling that ole Lou tosses a few barbs around the shower stall after work. What's with that stache stain anyway?

It's barbed? Ouch. Must be why May is so mad. Lou's PITA must hurt.

It's all about controlling the game and passing the eye test.

Galloway just replied that the SEC was a conference, not a single team. So Mays attempt to imply that Bama carrying the banner would compensate for the rest of the SEC was stupid. The ACC could make the same claim for FSU if top teams were all that mattered..
No one has addressed the point that the BCS was rigged for the SEC with opinion polls driving championships, opinion polls with SEC bias. Under the old system Bama beats FSU and has another championship to reinforce the perception of conference superiority based on championships.

I wonder how many SEC teams win championships over the years if we had playoffs every year? What if TCU, Oregon, etc. had gotten shots those other years instead of the ridiculous SEC rematch championship? What if every conference got an even chance every year to play their way into the championship without passing some opinion-based "eye test" of opinion polls with preconceptions of which teams "should" be good?

I think we are already seeing some of that Lonestar. Bama couldn't hang with tOSU. In BCS it'd be Bama vs Oregon again. I'm so glad that Bama lost, makes me warm and fuzzy.

Yessir.

The SEC being shut out of the nc game is the best thjng that happened all year for me outside of Tech's memorable season.
