In the last 10 years I can only think of 2 Heisman winners that didn't play for a NC, Manziel and RGIII. Basically, the key to winning the Heisman is be the QB or RB for a team playing in the NC, or be an extremely popular or polarizing figure that puts up unworldly stats.
Without looking it up, what do you think Florida's record was the year Tebow won his Heisman?

Well if ESPN says Justin Thomas as many times as they said Tim Tebow back in the day (min of 3 times a minute) then JT just might have a chance. Also is JT a virgin and going on mission trips to help snip little boys' penises?

You either have to put up ridiculous stats or lead your team to a 10+ win season to be considered for the Heisman as a QB. JT will never put up video game stats by nature of our offense. But if he can throw for 1800+ and rush for 1000, maybe with 30+ total TD's while we also win 11 games or go undefeated I think he will at least be in the conversation. (Those stats would have to be regular season). And the big games that are earlier in the year he has to shine (Notre Dame, maybe FSU or Clemmins).

FWIW, Tebow had over 50 touchdowns in 2007 and Florida also went 9-3 regular season (a respectable record to go along with his stats)

If GT were to go undefeated, JT would have enough highlight tape to potentially overcome his lack of raw numbers.

And ESPN commentators continuously reminding viewers how every play's success depends on a correct read and execution by the QB. ( Now that they finally learned the difference between cut blocks and chop blocks and how every progressive read works. ).

Huge "IF" though. But being the best player on the best team usually trumps video game numbers. The Houston Cougar Heisman's taught everyone that systems build stats as much as players do. Case Keenum blew away Ware and Klingler passing records and yet he did not sniff a Heisman.
