I am so thrilled for all Tech fans, coaches and players over our Yellow Jackets remarkable season. Unranked at the beginning of the season and not picked to finish in the top ten of our conference by many experts, today Georgia Tech officially finished the season ranked number seven in the coaches' poll and number eight in the writers' poll.

I could not be happier. This just goes to show what a group of two and three star recruits running a "high school" offense can accomplish, when they believe in their Coach and love each other.

Most of all, I am so happy for the many Tech fans, who remained loyal to our team through so many tough seasons. Only people who have been faithful through the bad times can fully enjoy the wonderful feeling we share today.

I am also extremely happy for Coach Paul Johnson. He believed in what he was doing, and his belief has been vindicated. Even though people at other schools don't want to admit it, recruiting is vastly more difficult at Tech than it is at any other team playing in a Power Five conference. But Paul Johnson has now proven beyond a doubt that he can coach two and three star players into a team that can beat a collection of four and five star individuals.

And the rest of our coaching staff also deserves great credit. Especially Ted Roof, whose love for Georgia Tech caused him to leave a safe job at Penn State and come back home to Ma Tech.

Finally, to the players, I can only say a very heart-felt "thank you." These young men will never know how much happiness their hard work and dedication have brought to so many Tech families around the world.

It is great to think that the future could even be brighter. Recruiting should be less difficult, getting players to believe in the system should be easier, respect will come from many sources that have not taken Tech football seriously for decades, and our returning players should give Tech the potential to reach even greater heights next season, with a schedule tough enough to get us into the playoff tournament, if we win our games.

But this is not about the future. This is about our incredible 2014 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the joy they brought us this season. I can't imagine how any season could be more satisfying than this one, and 2014 may be my favorite Tech season of all time.

"...and if I had a son, sir, I'll tell you what he'd do, he would yell 'To Hell with Georgia!' like his Daddy used to do." Oh, scion of the Southland, in our hearts you shall forever reign!

This year was a first for CPJ in that the football team finished on a high note by beating both UGA AND winning their bowl game.

Here's to hoping this becomes the norm and not the exception.

Great post, hasnt the post season and post bowl games been wonderful without hearing about UGAG all the time.

Great read. Just to put the cherry on top, we played our best football when we were on prime time when the entire country was watching and were amazed at the precision and damage done by our team. Awesome!

Great post. Summed up beautifully what GT fans are feeling.

You are spot on - years like these are what make being a Tech fan so special. When the stars align and you have a special team, there's no better feeling knowing how we do things at Tech. While I'd love to win as much as 'Bama, FSU, etc., there is something to be said for being able to enjoy these moments at a special place like GT. It's a great feeling.

I just wish our fight song said, "like his daddy taught him to" instead of "used to do." I still say thwg

Very much so! I have listened to the bowl and UGA game so often I can almost do the whole thing myself. Makes the 1.5 hour drive home in traffic a little more bearable.
