ACC schedule coming out soon

I was coming to post this. The schedule hasn't even been released and the bigcry and butthurt levels are through the roof

For me it's more because there may not be a program I hate from top to bottom (fanbase, coaches, ect) than VT. I hate UGA as well, but most of the time I can at least respect their ability or something. I got nothing nice to say about VT and this just reeks of something that was done to make them happy. VT is the post child of all the öööö the ACC admins and individual programs do that make the conference look bad to the rest of the college football world. To me, the ACC doing anything that makes them happy is a blow to the rest of the conference.

They have probably been the biggest reason the ACC is looked down upon nationally. Not necessarily their fault - they prioritize conference games at the expense of OOC games (not a terrible strategy), but this has resulted in them owning the ACC (pre-2012) and embarrassing themselves OOC. Their streak of getting pounded by every SEC team ever on the big stage dug us this hole.

We haven't been the poster child for this either with our bowl record, but at least we knocked off Auburn, Auburn, ND, UGA, USC, and MSU in recent years.

And now look, VT is falling back to the wayside and the ACC is surging with top teams that can actually play in the spotlight.

Per the GT Athletics FB page, the schedule will be announced @ 10 AM tomorrow.

How many of our ACC games will be conference games?

VPI has played 1 Saturday game here since they joined the league. Interestingly, we are 1-0 on Saturday, but 0-4 on Thursday.

2005: L
2007: L
2009: W (Saturday)
2011: L
2013: L

Was JT quarterback in any of those games?

If JT shows I like our chances Monday through Sunday!

An additional consideration in whether ND is an ACC school or not is the result of their bowl game.

If win against P5 opponent, then ACC
elseif, GDI

I think we should look at our own ship first and realize that we have been at least as guilty as VPI. Many lost bowls, many lost games to UGA... The reality is that the ACC is briefly up because of Tech, Clemson and FSU. Add in Miami one day and you have the obvious four teams that must play well for the ACC to thrive.

And next year, VPI will be a tough out again IMO.

At least when we've lost to weak out of conference teams in the past, we've had the decency to not sweep the ACC. Virginia Tech loses to an FCS team and then goes on to win the conference.

glad the schedule is being released. I have fall planning to do. I wouldn't mind Duke being in Durham on a Thursday night. I plan to be there when we hang infinity points on them.

I'd kind of like to see what that stadium looks like with the lights on. I don't think I've ever been there when it was dark outside, in like 8 trips.

2 Thursday night home games

yeah, the rumored VT home game and the already announced opener against Alcorn State.

These are the ones we already know:
9/3 Alcorn State
9/12 Tulane
9.19 Notre Dame
11/28 uga

Good start for the year with easy couple games and then ND. Gives a chance to let the new BBs and ABs figure out their positions.

Hopefully we get a nicely placed bye week too...

The cupcake schedule we had to start the year last year helped us a lot. JT had to find his mojo and the team grew a lot in the first 3 games.

Glad we have 2 patsies to start out with, because as alluded above, we'll have young guys at skill positions and a bunch of new ABs trying to get the perimeter blocking down.

A home Thursday night game against VT would be great for us. We built some serious momentum with the media after the Orange Bowl a game being the only game in the nation against a team like Virginia Tech should get a lot of people tuning in to watch and a fair bit of hype.

We just need to hope that both us and VT get to it undefeated. If we both do and we put on a dominant performance with everyone watching, you will start to hear some early playoff talk about us, which could pay dividends if it later comes down to us and a team from another conference for the fourth spot.
