First half of the Southern game we pretty much shredded them in every facet of the offense, especially with the A-backs

Allen tore them up in 2010 too IIRC. 29 carries for 166 yes.

I looked up stats for that game. öööö. That was another painful loss that should've been a W.
Was that the year involving a missed extra point and us allowed them to score so we'd get the ball back at the end? Heart breaker for sure.

Had we successfully pulled that game out, the allowing them to score move would have gone down in the CPJ greatest hits.

Yeah that's the one. We outgained them 512-425 but turned it over 5 or 6 times (including failed 4th downs) including a fumble-TD late in the 3rd that really changed the game.

From play-by-play, we called our final timeout on 2nd and 12 from our 20 with 1:38 left (down 1). 40 second play clock after the whistle, so they could have taken 3 knees and given it back to us with ~5 seconds left. Or if their RB takes a knee at the 5 the game is over. As it went, they gave the ball back with 1:22 left with a legit chance to tie - hell we even got it to midfield with 40 seconds left. Had we pulled that out, it would have been one of the all time coaching moves in the rivalry.

I still remember watching that game with my family back home - turned the TV off after the failed 4th down with 2 minutes to go and stormed off. My brother had to come find me to tell me UGA screwed up and we still had a shot.

My first thought for BBack was Miami '08.

Defense is easily Clemson '14. Clemson had 190 total yards.

Ehh, I'd say competition plays into it. '14 Clemson with that lineup wasn't scoring on anybody else either. '11 Clemson was one of the best offenses in the country and we pretty much stuffed them all night.

Record for most rushing yards by a GT quarterback: Tevin Washington with 176 vs Clemson in 2011.

Well, they also went on to score 35 points against South Carolina and 40 points against Oklahoma. Also, they had 4.9 yards per play against Oklahoma and 3.5 ypp against us. So it wasn't just turnovers and CPJ eating up clock with the lead.

I'm not sure if the stats were mind blowing but Smelter against Clemson this year was amazing.

Oline vs the dwags and the SEC West dwags (Orange Bowl) in '14 are just glorious examples of smash mouth football like it is rarely played anymore

The offense didn't play all that well initially in the Clemson game. Defense was very solid against what proved out to be a great offense. That game was a deceptively good game for the Defense that I think lots of folks would pin on the loss of Deshaun Watson.

What do you think is the best game by each of the following position groups in the past 7 seasons:

QB
BBacks
ABacks
WRs
Oline
Defense

Are there any that are screamingly obvious? Just curious... offseason blues...
By position group, not necessarily individual....

Qb- UNC 12
Bb- Miami 08
Ab- uga 08, FSU 09 hm
Wrs - vt 14 (1 route play the whole 4th quarter including the 4th down catch), msu 09 hm
Ol - nc state 14
Defense - Clemson 14, Pitt 14 first quarter, vt 09 hm

A lot of good and bad memories in this thread. Someone needs to get a list together with all of the choices that have been listed for each position and lets try and agree on one for each

I forgot to put special teams on the list. My vote goes for Clemson '09. Scott Blair was 3/3 on field goals and threw a touchdown pass. He killed them that game.
