Life After - Super Joe Speaks

This tells you everything you need to know about State's football program. Hardly anyone cares about it. They play in an NFL stadium that makes their already dreadful attendance look even worse. They're in the same conference with GA Southern and they have to compete with them for recruits which is almost impossible due to Southern being a nationally recognized winning football program. I really hope they get it turned around eventually because it would be nice to see that rivalry with Southern develop into something and for a lot of those 1-2 star HS players to stay in state and play.

Hope they turn it around?

I hope they burn in hell.

First off, very well-written.

If John Bond is "a gifted offensive mind," I was "almost" a Rhodes Scholar.

They need to pull the plug on the football program at State. Not every college needs or deserves a football program.

Most colleges don't. GSU was a commuter school for a long time and just doesn't have a loyal alumni base. KSU will suffer the same problems.

I'm still annoyed that the State of Georgia allowed them to have a team in the first place. It's our goddamned back yard.

I don't see the harm to us. I just don't ever see an overlap with the players we recruit or the sidewalk fans we gain.

Now if them or Southern ever got good, I do think they would cut heavily into the sidewalk fan base of another school. And possibly steal the occasional recruit too.

I would like to play State end of season. Mostly because I want to be focused on the ACCCG. Georgie should be played before school starts.

Dodd did not see the harm in getting out of SEC - just saying.

You're right. They need fewer scholarships out there. A free education for someone who normally wouldn't get one is bad and just plain Un-American.

There's dozens of other places they can go play and get a variety of levels of rides. There's nothing wrong at all with playing at a FCS school. And there are plenty of schools that get along just fine without the onerous expense of football.

You might be right, but they seem to be transitioning to a traditional campus and student body well. Maybe it's because the suburban setting appeals to families from the school sports culture (these are kids that went to HS football games). They will start out in a very small stadium, so it will probably be standing room only the first season. The big question will be, "Will they prefer to go see KSU/Gardner Webb on campus, or watch UGAg on TV?"
