The first season the Braves were in Atlanta, their announcing team consisted of Milo Hamilton and Larry Munson. Later, Munson became the UGA play by play guy and, for one year, Milo Hamilton replaced Al Ciraldo as Tech's play by play announcer, with Al moving into the role of the color commentator.

OK, since I gave the answer to that question, here are two more.

(1) How many football play by play announcers has Tech had, and who were they?

(2) What person broadcast both Tech football games and UGA basketball games?

Just tell me if you want the answers.

I think there's another answer to this one too. Al Ciraldo and Bill Munday. Munday was a former Dwag announcer who rose to become the head of NBC Sports (and also called the Tech Rose Bowl game for NBC. Ciraldo later gave Munday a part time play-by-play job working with him on Tech broadcasts.

Isn't Jeff Van Note another answer to this question. Did play by play with Munson for the Falcons, and had like at least a 1 year gig with GT.

Hiring Milo was one of the dumbest moves ever involving Tech sports. The difference was that Al loved Tech, and Milo loved Milo.

But, much to his credit, Al did not let this to lessen his love for the white and gold.

Al Ciraldo was a true Tech man. Hard to think of a better compliment than that. I was at Grant Field the day they gave him the "T" before the game. What memories.

"Well, brothers and sisters, we've got a thriller brewing at Grant Field today."

And, in his later years, when he couldn't see too well, it didn't dampen his enthusiasm, it just made the radio broadcasts more dramatic. I remember a Clemson game that came down to Clemson trying a last play field goal to win the game. And this was not on TV, where I lived. I was listening with one of my sons over a phone hooked up to a radio in Atlanta.

Al: "Well, it's long enough, it's straight enough, ugh..."

Kim: "He missed it, Al. Wide and short."

Al: "Tech wins, brothers and sisters. Tech wins!"
