Sad news. One of the greats. Kenny "The Snake" Stabler. Rest in peace, ole boy.

Saw him at the Touchdown Club in Charlotte in the late 90's. Nice guy and he could still remember the names of all the Steelers defensive players that lined up against him. Sorry to see him go. Supposedly, he died listening to "Sweet Home Alabama".

Here's my own personal Stabler story.

I was given the excellent novel Silence of the Lambs back in the early 1990s I believe by a friend who received it from none other than the Snake himself, Kenny Stabler.

So apparently Kenny could read.

He was really articulate. I was surprised he went to Bama.

Loved Kenny as a Raider.

One good story is during the Super Bowl warmup, Madden is uptight and they are looking for Kenny. He is over leaning on the fence chatting with a fan in a wheelchair in the wheelchair section. Completely relaxed.

The book "Badasses", has many Kenny Stabler stories.
