Sorry, but I don't know how to link a you tube video, but I often like to look at old GT football games.

I ran across one unintentionally that is labeled "10/9/1928 VMI vs Ga Tech" and if some folks can pull it up see what you observe.

- I was struck how the offense could set up to run a play right next to the boundary line. No hash marks I guess.

- I don't think refs called penalties then. Chop blocks, clips. I swear I saw a guy at least once throw a knee to the side of another player.

- on one play, one of the refs, either during or right before the play appeared to haul butt off the field! Beats me.

- at 09:05:42:28 I was kind off shocked by the size of our Band and the unis, considering it was 1928. It is just a very brief glimpse, but had not thought about the Band during those days.

- at 09:05:56:12 during a punt, a dog suddenly appears in the middle of the öööö field and everyone acts like it is nothing unusual! Like I said , during the play.

- and the fans in the stands, well it just looks odd. Many of them seem to be dressed like they would not be out of place at today's games. Shirt sleeves, etc. I was just under the impression men wore suits to events, regardless, back then. At one point it seemed like their was a guy in the stands jumping up and down like our super fan did at VT last year.

Just seemed odd in many ways. I dunno.

Does the dog walk through your screen and visit you in this dimension?

It looks like we are running the same offense as today. Both chop and cut blocking allowed.

I think Peter Pund (my picture) and CF HOF member was dealing out some serious punishment. Or maybe he had graduated the year before. The team the next year won the Rose Bowl, so these guys must have been pretty good.

Sloppy game. I know it was a national championship year, but we hit the skids in 1929 that lasted for a while looking back at the record books. Fire Alexander?

I got all sorts of turned around and confused watching that film. It seems to be shot from the normal TV perspective that we see today, is from the west stands. But at one point it looks like folks were sitting in the north end zone, but at that time the north was the open end of the horseshoe.

I guess there could be another camera shooting from the top of the east stands, but that seems weird. Wherever it is shot from there appears to be construction on the upper left portion of the screen.

I would love to know what we are looking at in terms of Grant Field on the film.

Agree, and that was really why I posted about it. Many things in that film just seem weird. At same time kinda cool.

That was interesting but did anyone else notice at 1:38 the B-back had his back to the LOS in a 3 point stance prior to the snap?

But this team is indeed one of our 4 National Championship Teams.

Pretty cool to think that team played a couple of stones' throws from my house, at Oglethorpe University in Brookhaven.

We used to have an old vinyl LP that had the radio broadcast of Roy Riegels' Wrong Way Run.

Previous year was UGA's "Dream and Wonder" team of 1927--UGA was undefeated until losing to Tech in a shutout. Bobby Jones won the U. S. Open that year, so a pretty good year for Tech. (Also Ruth's 60 homers, Dempsey vs. Tunney), first sound movie, Lindbergh's flight, and a ton of other amazing stuff. I recommend Bill Bryson's book on the summer of 1927.)
