NYC game watching?

Just moved to NYC. Is there a jackets bar here?

Playwright Irish Pub on w 35. It's the defacto Tech bar for New York/Jersey.

I'm a ramblin' wreck from Georgia Tech and a helluva engineer, a helluva helluva helluva helluva engineer...

Playwright Irish Pub is the official Georgia Tech bar for New York/New Jersey GT Alumni. Being steps away from my home, I can't believe this past weekend was the first time I've actually gone to a game here. They have specials including $4 PBR tall boy cans and $12 pitchers (best value).

The whole second floor is sectioned off with all the TVs playing the Georgia Tech games. There's pretty decent space - counter space, couches, and dining tables. Loved that they had the fight songs ready to play after every score and even the Budweiser song after the 3rd quarter.

Moving cross country every 2.5 years is pretty drastic.

Maybe he got a good job offer and he moved. It's not that drastic if you're in your 20s or early 30s and single.

And no kids.:hsughcry:

That description of the NYC GT bar almost makes me want to travel there for an away game.

Back when I was just out of school ('03-'07), we had some epic game watching at our old place, Proof, down in Murray Hill. From the muff and the catch, to the NCAA finals, and everything in between. It was dark, loud, rowdy and drunk, and it was awesome for all of us who couldn't fly back for games.

I went there for the Pittsburgh game. It was a good time definitely. $12 pitchers in NYC is awesome. Most drunk I've ever been at a bar on my own dime.

We usually get pretty good crowds. When we are doing well and it's a big game we can draw between 50 and 100. The Georgia game last year was nuts. If it's a lesser game and we're a middling team, it might only be ten.

The place itself isn't too great as far as food and drink, but the prices are really good for nyc standards and we do get a lot of space just for us. They're checking into whether the bar will be able to show the Alcorn game (they've shown espn 3 games in the past so hopefully not a problem).

If you want to pm me, I can invite you to the Facebook group they use for communication.

Was in town for the UNC game last year and had a lot of fun (minus the outcome). The pitcher prices were great (for NYC) and the fight song was queued up on the stereo at all times. We really enjoyed it.

Dang now I want to go to NYC to watch a game!
