10 Best Wins and 10 Most Devastating Losses Under CPJ

Agree with most of those. Good list. Would have maybe moved up a couple of the wins (FSU 08 and 15 and 09 should be there somewhere....5 hr game and only time we've beaten them in Tallahassee)

"it later came out that middle tennessee had al groh's defensive signals..."

I hadn't heard that. Did they just pick up on what was going on, or did they find them out another way? Isn't it illegal to steal other teams signals?

We had a player who left us and went to MTSU for his final year, I thought.

I'm don't remember exactly how they got them, just remember CPJ talking about it on his radio show one time and saying coach from MTSU told him after the game.

I hadn't heard that either. That is infuriating. How long after that game did Groh get fired? He should have been fired on the spot.

Yeah. Groh was using some simple ass signal that they cracked immediately. Remember they basically ran two plays against us? They threw a WR screen/hitch type play and they ran the ball up the middle. Based on whether we blitzed, they would either run inside/throw to the WR. The stats for that game were comical.

Flunkout and I walked out at halftime and proceeded to get nice and drunk back at the RV lot. By the time it was all over, that may be the drunkest I've ever been at a game. It was the only thing that could take away the pain. What a ööööshow that day was.

I checked the stats for the game because I hate being happy and like to relive disappointment.

It was only 21-21 when you left. I remember sitting in the top row of a very empty Upper East openly chain smoking and hitting the flask. I can't remember who was there with me. It was awful.

Top losses for me would all be Georgia games and MTSU, any VT loss can get in line.

Other than that, pretty good list.

I think a biggest win that narrowly avoided a worst loss was the 2010 game at Wake Forest. Tech was down 21-17 with a little over 2 minutes to go when we got our final possession. Nesbitt rushed to convert a 4th down, and later completed a go ahead TD pass to Correy Earls with 15 seconds left. Tech finished the 2010 regular season at 6-6 (4-4), then lost to AF in the bowl, so losing that game would have ended the bowl streak a year after the ACC championship. I'm not sure if CPJ would have made it to 2014 if not for that win.

Worst almost loss: 2015 Ga Southern.

Best win was Orange Bowl vs Miss St. I fully expected Tech to wet the bed on bowl day yet again but I couldn't believe my eyes when Tech crammed the football down Miss St throat.

Air Force and MTSU games tie for öööötiest games I ever watched. Well then there was the Kansas take the ball out and then back into the end zone game.

Didn't read link but worst loss is obviously and overwhelmingly '09 to UGA. Best win is equally clearly a tie between '08 UGA and '14 UGA, with '09 ACCCG or '14 OB coming in a close 3d.

Pretty much got it. 1. 08 uga 2. 09 acccg 3. 14 uga 4. 14 OB

What a roller coaster. Big wins over undefeated top 10 teams, big losses to teams barely breathing. Is there another team in the country with the kind of history we have of beating good teams with bad teams and vice versa? That's why I have this addiction. Why I spend way more money than I should getting to as many games as I can. You have to be there because of what might happen. There are no lost causes and no sure things when it comes to GT football. 3-8 to MNC in two years. MNC to 1-10 in 4 years. Did any of you think as you walked out of the Orange Bowl on 12/31/2014 that we would only win 3 games in 2015? If you pay to ride the roller coaster, don't complain about the ups and downs.
