Mr. Swilling speaks of UNIs

I have absolutely no gripes about the throwback uni's we've been wearing, nor the base jerseys, helmets permitting (no ööööing chicken wire).

Well, Russell will be gone in 2018. They are done. I am one of the few that actually like the Russell unis.

Pulling for Nike or UA. Nike already has UGA, so they don't need us in Georgia. Hopefully UA will embrace us.
Why do you think they will be gone?

and the contract expires in summer 2018

Russell is owned by Fruit of the Loom. Look at who their CEO is. I don't think Bob's influence reaches very far anymore. If they would support us like Nike and UA do their alma maters, it could be good.

I laugh at the failed logic that Nike or UA would pay any more attention to us than Mercer.

If Bob knew it was a problem, then everyone knows it is a problem.

Isn't Medlin, still FofL CEO, or do you mean Buffett?

Yeah, they would. And if not, we would at least be able to walk into Dick's Sporting Goods and buy a Tech shirt. Right now we have absolutely NO merchandising effort. Almost all of it is garbage and it's not distributed well.

Look, all a company needs is an ok design. Then, what "these kids" really get excited about are alternates. Sure, Oregon is an example of "out there" creativity. But players are still excited by what UGA (black jerseys this year), UF, UT, and Ohio State are able to do. They have classic designs they don't change, but they have alternates that players get excited about, too. That's ALL we need.

They have supported us for years. Do you think the problem is Russell or the athletic department? I doubt that's all we need. When has OSU worn anything other than red and silver? The uniforms make little difference unless you are Oregon or Maryland where they get special consideration. Russell offers us at least as much of a chance to be innovative, see beehive.

Somehow, I have an officially sanctioned UA polo. Do you not recognize that the reason our goods aren't in stores has nothing to do with who markets the goods? The size of our fan base is a much bigger problem.

The fact that you have a UA polo proves my point. Russell has no handle on merchandising. Would you ever find an UA Georgia polo? No. That's because Nike is a competent merchandiser. Russell isn't.

Would more stores carry our merch if we had a bigger fan base? Yes, you are right. But Google
Oregon St., Pitt, or even Georgia Southern and you can get decent gear from Nike. Those aren't better programs than us.
