If anyone is curious as to the Company we keep with Russell....http://team.russellathletic.com/collegiate-sponsorships.html
The fact that you have a UA polo proves my point. Russell has no handle on merchandising. Would you ever find an UA Georgia polo? No. That's because Nike is a competent merchandiser. Russell isn't.

Would more stores carry our merch if we had a bigger fan base? Yes, you are right. But Google
Oregon St., Pitt, or even Georgia Southern and you can get decent gear from Nike. Those aren't better programs than us.
Bought it at the bookstore after a Stingtalk tailgate. These are licensed goods and have nothing to do with who does our uniforms. If we had five million redneck Georgians buying anything that says Dawgs we would be in Dick's. Blaming Russell for it is dumb.

While it may seem trivial to adults, the kids that GT are trying to recruit care about this stuff. Fact is Russell is another disadvantage. Throw in crappy merchandising and availability and we end up with few decent apparel choices, none made by Russell.

GT should be aggressively seeking to get out of the contract before 2018.

Too think the sponsor contract has nothing to do with the licensed merchandise is insane. Also, I heard this is our last season with Russell

I've seen several people here mention it, but to me it's more than just uniforms. One day I would like to walk into a store and see some good looking GT gear and some variety. The fact that my favorite GT polo is a Nike charcoal gray I got on clearance is not good. It's the merchandising and wanting some good looking fear that is more easily available. Jerseys would come.

Also, My thought is Adidas may come in with more money especially since losing michigan to the jumpman, and I thought they lost another school this offseason as well?

Clemson was done with Russell in '14
Wow, that Nike jersey looks so much better than the Russell. /sarcasm

The problem with Russell's uniforms is probably contributed to both Russell and Tech. Russell's new concept designs have for the most part been pretty awful, just like the other bigger name brands out there. It's hard to create a new look everyone falls in love with. But once you find the right concept, you roll that out, not all of the concepts every other game. Tech has a real problem with quality control as far as our visual marketing. The exception being the interlocking GT. Buzz is fine, but should probably marketed towards children exclusively. It's a child's cartoon. The Ramblin' Wreck really needs to be embraced more. It evokes class.

I understand name brands and how that effects simple minded, impressionable teenagers, so I'd probably drop Russell. I mean Wal-Mart is their biggest distributor, that's pretty much loser gear to a teenager. Someone mentioned 361 degrees, they're obviously trying for a big marketing push. We should look at companies like this, dictate what we want our look to be, put their logo on it, and then work with them on new concept ideas. If they're a real apparel, gear, etc. company looking to make name for themselves, we could get a competitive agreement from someone like that.

I'm not sure who has the final say in what we accept as uniforms and/or fan apparel, but whoever it is needs different responsibilities. I could do this part time, and we would easily have the best looking color combo, uniforms, and fan apparel in the South.

It's not rocket science, but your appearance can really change people's perception. Although, this probably doesn't mean much to the cargo shorts crowd.

Pure numbers say you won't. All the idiots on here that make that claim don't understand economics. The best we could ever do is have one piece of merchandise for every five Dawgs. How is that so hard to understand? It is a bigger problem than the athletic department.

What a confused mess of a response. Merchandising and availability have nothing to do with Russell. Kids who pick a school because of uniforms are not those we can target. You have to be an idiot to think that.

I do agree w/ you on that part of it, but sometimes it's bad when you walk into the GT bookstore and see stuff that just doesn't look good. Let alone all different shades of gold, old gold, yellow and also black, navy...

The AA signs off on every one. I think there are a lot of misguided attacks on Russell. I just think that if WE had the right people in place, we're better off with a company that pays attention to us rather than being fortieth on Nike or UA's roster. As I said before, we license to those companies, we have control.

I'm not telling you if we switch to Nike, we'll have as much shelf space in this state as UGA. That will never happen. But the part I don't think you're understanding is that working with a larger company means better replica jerseys, t-shirts, hoodies, hats and that sort of thing. That's what Nike and Adidas DO and so yes, they would produce better merchandise than Russell does because Russell doesn't focus on that sort of thing.

They already make GT merchandise. See previous post. It's our AA that is the problem. Russell can have some factory in Indonesia do replica jerseys too. That is not how they are being directed. Pretty much us and Purdue are their major teams and we are not leveraging that. Who's fault is that? Do you think a Nike would spend any time on us?

Russell is run by Berkshire Hathaway. Cheap bastards. They also own Dairy Queen, the lowliest of the fast food restaurants. I bet Mr. Lorberbaum has a good laugh over bourbon and cigars at who is running Shaw Industries nowadays.
