Can UNC Carry the Torch?

I actually like UNC's chances in this one. I think they'll run the ball better against the dwags than people think. Smart will be a mess for his first game. Reminds me of Goff.

I don't know, he looks pretty good:

19 for 29, 244 yds, 1 TD

I just hope that if UNC does lose, they don't basically give the game away as against USC-e last year.

Apparently from Arkansas fans I have heard from, UGAs OC Jim Cheney will always abandon the run for a bunch if deep passes and itll drive you nuts as a fan. He apparently also like flashy short passes in short down and distance as opposed to running it.

Heres to hoping their OC retains those tendencies.

So I've never researched their OC, but when you mentioned he was at Arkansas, it made me curious. This guy's been an OC in the SEC for 6 years now, and he's got 12 conference wins under his belt. Total. 33% of them were in his very first year, at Tennessee. He hasn't been OC for a team that won more than 2 conference games in a season since 2010. I'm a little confused by that hire, now.

EDIT: Apparently he was at Pitt last year, so preface all of the above with *SEC

EDIT 2: Although even with Pitt included, he has coached an offense in the top 50 of scoring vs FBS exactly one time since leaving Purdue.

Mutt fans think Smart is the second coming of Saban, but isn't that what a lot of people thought about Muschamp? Anyway, pray for mutthurt.

Yeah Cheney's claim to fame was his time at Purdue when his QB was none other than Drew Brees. So he had the keys to a lambo there. Since he has been really pedestrian failing to really develop a marquee QB. Arkansas fans say he ruined Brandon Allen. TN fans were not too enthralled with him either.

It was an interesting hire for sure. His big thing is really just abandoning the run even when its the one thing working.

Even with Brees, he was just the OL/TE coach. Somebody stop me from buying hype shares.

Arkansas abandoned the run at times last year too without Chaney. They threw 53 time against Toledo and lost. Arkansas couldn't even run against Texas Tech. In 2014 with Chaney, Arkansas ran the ball down Texas Techs throat for 4 quarters. I'm not saying Chaney is a good OC but Arkansas fans aren't any brighter than Uga fans.

What will make my Labor Day weekend is a convincing GT win in Dublin and uga starting the season with a loss under their brand new coach. Also I'd like to get laid. So yeah if those three things could happen I'll be a happy camper.

2 of 3 isn't bad.

Two of them are actual possibilities.

UNC has been atrocious in their season openers. I'd bet on UGA in this one.
