Game day email

It is up to the professors to cancel or not. Most do. I'm heading down early regardless so as not to be stuck in the I-85 gridlock...

The classes are not the issue. Most lots are full of employee vehicles and they certainly do not allow us to leave work early just to clear the lots for incoming football game patrons.

I have an email that says the lots will be manned at 3pm, and many spaces will be open.

Deleting in an hour.

The final home game of my college career was a Thursday night game against Miami in 2008. One of my teachers scheduled a test for right before that time and refused to move it. He seemed to relish it, too.

I ended up just making it to the game, but didn't get to sit with any of my friends (we all did front row so I couldn't just show up at kickoff), missed all the senior day cermonies, etc. It was frustrating, to say the least.

Likewise for the Miami game, I had a physics test that ended right as the game started. I took the opportunity to drink a lot during the test. Beat the curve by 40 points. And then I snuck a chick fil a sandwich into the game. [/cool story bro]

Aside from labs and tests, Thursday night games are awesome for students, not so much for others coming to the game. I honestly loved having an easy excuse for drinking in class for once.

Great insight.

So, you schedule a football game for a weeknight, but you don't cancel classes at any point during the day of that game. Including late afternoon classes that actually run into the scheduled time of the game.

Would it be so bad to cancel classes after 2 PM on a gameday? The schedule is set before the term even starts, so profs can easily teach around the lost class time. It isn't rocket science.
Unless it is rocket science

I definitely understand why some people don't like them, but when I was living in NC and could actually go to games, I loved the Thursday night games. I would take a couple days off from work, get to campus at noon Thursday, and tailgate with friends while students were still going to and from class. Plus the atmosphere of the games was always great.

Well, I missed my brothers GT graduation in '73... because I had 2 finals that day (a Saturday). The first quarter I was there in fall '72 they had finals scheduled for Saturday, the day of the UGAy game. Student gubmint petitioned for them to change it and they actually postponed finals on game day. Who says the Hill doesn't care?

Fall quarter '65 I had an 8am eng graphics lab and an 11am English class; talk about screwing up a weekend!
