Coaching

Can we please discuss how bad the coaching is right now, and the future of the program, without getting banned?

Tired of watching our team get embarrassed by good teams. I want so bad to believe in CPJ because he has taken us to good places before. But this is so painful....

We should be able to openly discuss the lack of talent and coaching on the OL, and the overall poor coaching, without getting banned.
Reported.

What was our record when we had those players?

Let's play what if. Lets say we were lucky enough to pick the right highly touted coordinator like say, Tom Hermann.

How long would he stay here if he had success, how many recruiting classes would we get?

Thats if we pick the right one, what are the odds we get another Hermann rather than another Muschamp?

I get it.
But I don't agree that we have settle on the triple option gimmick because trying to be better is hard.
At the end of the day, David Braine said it best, whether we like it or not.

I guarantee the new AD is taking notes, making phone calls, and putting a plan in place. Johnson's days are numbered if things don't turn around now, not later this year and not next season. Why do you think he took over running the offense in practice the same time we hired Stansbury? Johnson became complacent.

In college, 75% of coaching is recruiting. The rest of the ACC is improving the quality of its players so quickly, that our offensive system is no longer able to produce wins like it once did. I don't think this will last much longer. I don't think our new AD is going to be content with losing seasons. Thank goodness we now have a Tech man in that job.

Yeah, maybe he can bring in a tech man like that dude who followed pepper.. the one that used GT as a stepping stone to get to a football factory.

Triple option offenses are often used to try and offset a talent gap. When you come in and there are good athletes in place, they can learn the offense and be very successful - like Myers and Sims with Raible and Robinson when Pepper arrived and like Nesbitt, Thomas and Dwyer when CPJ came in. The problem is getting players of that caliber to come in to run the offense and signing players only suited to that offense. When the option coach leaves, the cupboard is usually bare for implementing a more conventional offense.

Besides us and the service academies, who else is using the TO?

I try to believe that, but then I remember when we had a team with Calvin Johnson, Derrick Thomas, Michael Johnson, Tashard Choice, Vance Walker, etc. We act like it's impossible to attract good players to Tech. It's not impossible, challenging sure, but not impossible. We don't HAVE to run a gimmick offense to find success every 6 years.

Derrick Thomas :dunno:

The guy who in two seasons before he left beat Alabama, Clemson, Tennessee, Michigan State, and Georgia (back to back), yes I would take that for a couple of years right now.

That was a pretty awesome team you remember who lost 6-3 to Wake Forest in the ACC Championship Game. Man, that team will live in GT history as being one of the best of all time. They even almost beat Georgia.

9-6

öööö

That team blew every chance it had to have anything resembling a successful season that year. Losses to ND, Clemson (college game day there), dwags, WAKE ööööING FOREST, and WVU (whose fans took a öööö in our band section).

I'll take a CPJ led 2012 season over a Gaileyball 2006 any day

We lost to Clemson, who is handling #3Louisville... And it looks like Miami may be a legit top ten team.... If we drop to Pitt and GA Southern games then you all can get on the cliff, but we are 3-2.... and in two weeks can be 5-2... Lets calm down....

Yes our OL is struggling, however they are young, last year we had E. Joe and B. Chamberlain who were 5th year players wiffing.... We have 3 really young guys on the OL and by all counts seem to be learning on the fly and improving every week... Lets save our judgement for the uGA game...Calling it now we will beat UGA

Miami is a Top 25 team. They are not even close to being top 10. Without Kaya they would be nothing. They are average along the offensive and defensive line. They have speed at the skill positions on offense, but are far from elite.

Bobby Ross also used us to get to the NFL but I'll still take the national championship he got us.

Never go full retard

Did I compare teams or say I want Gailey or talk about his teams? I simply said that We are capable of attracting talent to the flats, that's all I said. You went full retard tho in your response. What are you angry about bro? Go take another swig of your martini. It will be okay.

Have some perspective, guys. There are plenty of teams with two losses to worse teams than we do. Uga and fsu to name two. Don't go jumping off the bridge yet.
Agree with your perspective but FSU lost to two very similar teams as us, looking better in one loss and worse in the other.
UGA's losses have really consoled me these past two weeks -- especially how they lost. Two different kinds of total demoralization.

The only real problem with our team right now is O-line execution. We're a 4-1 team looking at a 10-2 season if our o-line was mediocre.

We're actually doing great in all other phases of the game.

I've heard the same complaint 8 of the last 9 years. CPJ has been good to us, but he isn't the only one that can get it done here. He is riding out the gravy train at this point in his career.
