Commitment

Johnson responded: “How can the expectation be to beat them?”

This is not the time for Coach Johnson to publicly state Tech doesn't have the resources to commit to winning (like Clemson). We have a season to still play, darn it! Those young men, who play for our school, don't need to hear their head coach say they can't beat someone because they haven't been given the tools to do so! Bull sh#t!

For one thing, our defense held the mighty Clemson to three points in the entire second half! Those boys were playing great in spite of their head coach (who's offense managed to gain a measly 124 or something yards for the entire game). And at the end of the game, when our offense failed to convert a 3 rd down well in our territory, Coach Johnson goes for it on 4th down and long. We get stopped. We leave our defense out with a short field to defend and our defense HOLDS.... Despite Clemson trying to pass and do everything they could to get a cheap touchdown at the end of the game. I'm sure Coach Roof would have liked to kick Johnson's fat ass for that crap!

Plus, against Miami, Tech could have won that game but we turned the ball over twice in our own territory. And I will say Coach Johnson's offense was moving the ball well against Miami. His game plan was working! Therefore, Tech still has a chance to have a good season. Our head coach needs to keep his mouth shut until the season has concluded! He needs to believe in his players and stop bitching about what we lack and focus on what we have! After the season, he can talk all he wants about Tech doing a better job of "committing" to winning.

Chuck and Chernoff talking to Stansbury right now.

He said obviously we have a passionate coach and he is frustrated by the past two weeks. We are committted and the league is tough. Maybe the toughest in the country. We know it is important for coaches and players to have what they need to be successful. He knows that the donor base is committed and he's looking forward to getting started.

He said that he has not yet spoken to Coach about his concerns and ideas going forward. But he says that we are absolutely going to compete.
Deserves its own thread.

In the time it took you to write this, you could have listened at least halfway through the radio show and heard Paul Johnson specifically state that we are capable of beating Clemson and Miami as it stands today.

The people saying PJ never takes the blame or only blames the school/facilities are either deliberately ignorant or just plain dumb.

This öööööööööööö never takes any responsibility for himself. It's always somebody else's fault when we lose.

When we win though, oh he's willing to share in some of that.
Sorry, but I disagree. I've heard folks throw out this old chestnut a number of times over the past several years, BUT I've heard him say more than once this year that our mistakes were on him and the coaching staff as well as the players. Balanced view IMO.
