Purdue AD Mike Bobinski fired head football coach Darrell Hazell after a 3-3 record in 2016 and a 9-33 career record at Purdue. Bobinski said "College athletics can't have a better man than Darrell Hazell, and i would like to see more men with his virtues in Division 1 athletics. But while character is mandatory every day at Purdue, positive performance must also be there" Purdue owes Hazell a 4.45 million buyout.

Probably not. It was a mistake to fire him because a 3-3 start is the best start Purdue has had in many years.

Yep. Had he done a good job? No, not really. However, guy deserved to finish the season based on the 3-3 start.

Seems a case of a guy who knows nothing about football trying to walk in and put his stamp on things. Problem is, his actions here display his lack of expertise more than anything.

What CPJ said about him in this recent podcast was quite telling.

I agree with you. I think Bobinski will probably be a lousy AD for Purdue in the end making Purdue an even bigger athletic dumpster fire.

I'm curious to see the hire. Maybe some insight into what he would have done here if CPJ didn't work out.

I don't miss that loser at all. He was a joke.

If I were a good head coach, there have to be a yuuuuge severance package for me to battle that dumpster fire known as Purdue. I really can't think of any reason for a good football player to go there over most any other of the power 5 conference schools.

So what DID mbob do here? He was absent in the media, absent for fundraisers, rarely talked to any of the coaches, didn't answer emails, didn't interact with student athletes... Literally, what was he collecting a salary to do?!? That's right, he came up with a strategic plan.

Let's see if he botches the coaching search. Man, Bobinski must be one heck of an interview to keep talking his way into jobs, even though Purdue wasn't even a lateral move, but rather a step down. Their football program is historically nothing. If you can go 6-6 there most years, you've exceeded expectations. So you fire a guy that's 3-3 mid-season? Yeah, had to be boosters, though I wonder who they think they will get. The more I think about it, the more I think Purdue is the perfect fit for Bobinski. Milquetoast, vanilla, invisible.
