It is what it is ........ pretty damn good IMO considering the impediments. Just a couple of bullet points.
  • Georgia Tech finished the regular season with an 8-4 overall record, which is the fourth time in Paul Johnson's nine seasons as head coach (2008-present) that Georgia Tech has won at least eight regular-season games. Prior to Johnson's arrival in 2008, Georgia Tech had won eight or more regular-season games only eight times in the previous 51 seasons (1957-2007).
  • Head coach Paul Johnson became the second coach in Georgia Tech history with three wins at Georgia (2008, 2014 and 2016), joining Bobby Dodd, who won at UGA five times (1950, 1952, 1954, 1956 and 1962).

Damn good stats. I've doubted CPJ occasionally when things are looking bad, but he has been good to us.

I hope CPJ retires here.

One thing about his teams- they never quit. All 3 of his UGA wins have been improbable comebacks. Even when we were 3-9 last year, his teams never gave up.

no hurry on that, he has 3-4 more years on contract

let's give him a few more staff members though, 5 more GTAA staff to help with recruiting would be great

This. If we want to compete, we need to get him a few QA and recruiting staff members. Time to write a check gents.

That's why I am such a big fan of his. His teams don't quit. His team hung tough today and made plays when it counted to make us all proud.

Agreed, let's give this man some more recruiting power, and fire Sewak....at least after the bowl.

I'll never understand the anti-CPJ retards. He's a proven commodity who does more with less (and for some reason that I can't figure out, he actually wants to be at GT). Unless you're also going to fire GT's idiotic and self-inflicted academic limitations, firing him is pointless.

Every now and then his play calling makes me shake my head, but people that want him fired have short memories. I have endured the Carson, Fulcher, Rodgers Lewis, etc years. I wish the DL recruiting was better, but we have lots more depth than the old days. FSU used to smoke us with their 3rd string.

I have been restraining myself from posting a thread titled "Tough day for the CPJ haters" all day

Running out of willpower

- Brilliant gameday coach
- Runs an offense that can be very effective without top talent
- Doesn't require an OC
- Not likely to be hired away despite success
- Gained the trust of the Hill with academic success

Anybody think we could have held onto any other coach who won 20 games and an ACC title in his first two years here? A factory would throw $5M at him and he'd be gone. If we have to put up with a clunker season once out of every 9, so be it. CPJ might as well have been created in a Tech lab for our AA.

As Mark Bradley wrote, this was a huge game for CPJ. 3-6 versus 2-7 against UGA matters. Another eight win regular season matters. It would take at least two and maybe three losing seasons in a row before I would argue his time should be up. Today sealed the deal - this was a good season. He's had several of these.

Please do not leave off he truly cares about the young men entrusted to his care.

Reminds me of Coach Dodd. Has the ability to find a way to win. Has the ability to instill this into those around him. This is a rare trait.

Hope that he will continue to do a great deal of good for Georgia Tech!
