CCG Retiring

Eh. The formation doesn't mean much without the motion, the option, etc.

Well, no öööö?

Point is, sounds like it had more to it in practice. And I'm guessing with Smith at QB instead of Suggs (the starter) the intention was to actually start running some option out of it.

Gailey gave up on it, so I guess we'll never know.

Gailey was just not a great coach. He had plenty of time and talent to beat UGA or win a championship and he didn't. Not much reason to think things were going to change, and we'd ever have anything more than a mediocre season.

I know there's a shining moment off in my future when I'm like 80 years old, with a virtual bourbon in my hands at BDS 2.0 when mecha-Heisman is our coach where I get to compare him to flesh and blood Chan Gailey. "Mecha Heisman is the first coach in GT history to win 1 million simulated matches in a season" "Yeah well Chan Gailey was coaching when they added the 12th game to the season and none of them were simulated" etc. It's gonna be a blast if I can remember all of the stuff to say.

I can give you 5-7 reasons why everyone should just leave Chan alone, or 7-5 if you want to look at it that way.

CCG fan, why?
I'm glad our bar is higher then 7 win seasons,
but I'm not going to dump on the guy as if he won 4 games every year for 7 years.

He was proud to be here, proud to be a Tech man, respected our history & environment.
Didn't do anything to shame the school, had a handful of signature wins to keep it fun.
Slightly better then average, certainly not one of our best.

I've got a longer explanation on the Hive.

51-7 was witnessing a complete dismantling of the team where significant portions of the team completely quit giving a öööö during the game. It showed a complete lack of pride or motivation. If you were there you'd never forget it. I was not around for Lewis years, but imagine that is what the "team quit on the coach" felt like but for an entire season.
I was there, öööö chan and all his losses to the dwags.

This. No reason to hate the guy, but we are definitely better for having replaced him.

Edit: unlike B*** L****, who ran it into the ground. Hard.

With a few breaks, things could have been much different; like Megatron dropping a 4th down pass that hit him in the hands vs UGA.

But totally owning Auburn, dismantling "we may be in your league, but you're not in ours" Miami, and coming back from 20 down to beat Clemson in 2 minutes are pure gold.

When did that happen?

I remember Thomas doing that in 2009 but can't remember Megatron dropping any 4th down passes against the dwags.

Uhhh..no. First of all, he led us to being down by 20 with what is really more like 5 min left to go. He doesn't get the credit for that, it all goes to the dumbass long snapper from Clemson, Bowden jr for öööö play calling on 2nd and 3rd and an inch, and Calvin Johnson. If you want to give props to Reggie, even that is deserved but not Chan or pat nix. We won that game in spite of those idiots. To Chan I say good luck dicknose, it's about 15 years too late

The 06 ACCCG pillow fight was worth negative three wins so, no, he didn't. I was there. It was definitely worth negative three wins.
That wasn't a pillow fight. It was a pillow assault. Wake had the pillow and we were the vomiting fat girl they were hitting with it. I was never one of the people who could hate Gailey, which is probably why it took me longer than others to come around on wanting him gone. His tenure was as weird as the flavor vanilla could get and it's strange to think of talent bailing out coaching at Tech. Good luck to the guy.

Also, if you've posted a screen or any sort of details from that one game in 2002, you need your computer confiscated and your face shot.

He also helped open a GT line to the NFL, and personally helped draft a few

How many former employers are still paying Chan? Don't ever want to see him near GT ever again...ever...but you can't argue the guy has a system and it works. Cash flow is strong.

Meh. I was feeling so good after our win in November, that I decided I could stomach taking a look at that piece of öööö after 14 years. Excorcised some demons, etc.

I want to say it was 2005, but I could be wrong. I recall people complaining GT's "all everything receiver" dropping a crucial pass against UGA. It could have been a 3rd down play.
