New summer pro football league aims to offer paid alternative to college football

The orientation is it's hard for me to see an 18 year old picking 50k a year for four years playing in front of likely small crowds (both in the stadium and on TV) over going to college for four years.

50k a year just isn't enough to make this work, in my opinion.

They could probably pay a lot less if they offered a good chunk of it up front. For example, pay the guy $35k/yr, but pay him $10k as soon as he signs the dotted line and have the $10k in cash on the table sitting next to the contract.
