In an initial report by Andrew Greif of The Oregonian on Monday, it was revealed that offensive linemen Doug Brenner and Sam Poutasi and tight end Cam McCormick were described to be in "fair condition" after being transported to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Poutasi was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, which affects soft tissue and could lead to kidney damage in severe cases.

However, the team continued to perform the same workouts which multiple sources described to Greif as "akin to military basic training."

Sounds like some of that old school Terestinki workouts that UGAg tried to use, and failed.

Back in the good ol' days you "trained" players until a few of them ended up in the hospital or completely out of football due to injury incurred. Then they would celebrate what a great coach you were in movie like "Junction Boys". Taggert just wants to see who has what it takes to play for Oregon.

The heaviest Junction Boy was probably about 250 pounds

I do crossfit and rhabdo education and avoidance is a huge topic. In summary, dont do the same intense exercise over and over again for a long time to avoid the life threatening condition. In nearly 100% of the cases, the athlete was dehydrated and did an intense exercise repeatedly. Completely avoidable and on the S&C coach. He deserved suspension.

Why no, you did not. Please, do tell.
I worked with her.

Back when I was in Columbia, SC. I had moved back to the ATL by the time this happened. I think I moved back his freshman year so I didn't get to hear her go ballistic about that.

May be time to stop referring to football players as "warriors" or "soldiers."

From what I remember in my time in the Crossfit cult, Rhabdo is most likely when there's sudden intense exercise that you're not used to. Like Oregon, Iowa's rhabdo was also right after winter break.

Rhabdo really can't be any good for conditioning. A lot of times people are working themselves too hard and aren't gaining real strength even if the numbers are going up in the weight room. Neurological adaptation != strength.
