We went to this game. It was our first GT game. Loved it. We were sitting right in the middle of the VA crowd and they couldn't understand it when we didn't join along with them after they scored a TD. They'd put their arms around each other and sway back and forth to the tune of some song.
Anyway, the point is, since then, I've been looking to watch this game and finally found it the other day, thanks to GTBob.
Now if I can only find the audio version of it.

I was there as well, seated in the 3rd row on the 50 yard line in the east stands; one of my favorite games. UVA was #7 in the country and came into BDS@HGF with confidence and swagger. When UVA ran onto the field, they ran all the way down the sideline and jumped on the Wreck which was waiting to take the field.

The players were trash-talking with the crowd as they jumped out to a 31-17 lead by the half; it was 38-24 in the 3rd quarter, but as the 3rd quarter came to a close, you could feel the momentum had shifted. The players had quit their trash talk and stared morosely at the field of play as it became obvious the GT O wasn't going to be stopped and the D wasn't going to let them score another point. Sweet, sweet game.

I was un upper east, drunk as cooter brown. Still not real sure how I made it from the upper deck to the field after the game.

This was one of my favorites as well. I remember Sir Westleys highlights from the game, but wish I had those as well. Great game all around.

I believe this is the first game I saw a rush of the field. Didn't the goalposts come down, too?

I remember that game vividly. Went on great first date. Won $100 bet on the game from a UVA loudmouth douche. Ran into Charles Barkley late night at Moondogs. Good times!

How'd the date end?

Quite possibly the best game I have ever seen in person. I was a HS Sr. and had already been accepted to GT. My dad had season tix, but I went with my mom because he wasn't feeling well. We were down 38-17 late in the 3Q and UVa was driving - the turning point was a scoop-and-score from Delaunte Cameron to make it 38-24 and then Dez White just took over. When UVa got the intentional grounding penalty to push them just out of the kicker's range and then he missed the 54-yarder by a couple feet...I don't think I have ever heard BDS louder. It felt like the place was shaking. I will never forget it. As soon as it left his foot, my mom screamed, "No, it's short," - we were lower West between the 10-yd line and goal line, so had a great vantage point. We went crazy and hugged and screamed. The win pushed us into the Top 20 and set the stage for College GameDay and FSU the next week. GT lost to FSU but won the rest and beat ND in the Gator Bowl to finish 10-2 and No. 9 in the country.

Folks probably forget, JoeHam got racked up in the first half against UVa and had to come out for a series and gave way to a redshirt-Fr. named Godsey. Fortunately, Joe toughed it out and came back. Charlie Rogers also had a big punt return TD when it looked like it may get out of hand in the first half.

These kind of off season threads are fantastic. I love hearing people's personal stories about these big games/seasons that happened before I started following Tech football (or any football really).

There was one long catch and run for a touchdown, I believe by Dez White, that's the moment in the game etched in my memory. I was in the band and it was going away from us. He had a safety to beat after he caught it and the afterburners came on.

I also remember playing and playing for all the fans on the field while they were tearing down the goalposts. Such fun. Pity the Admin doesn't let the band play when the field gets rushed now.

Yep, that was Joe to Dez and gave us our first lead. An innocuous slant on 3rd down that Dez cut up toward the sideline and took about 55 yards to the house. Place went wild. Even wilder when Joe followed it up with a 2-point sneak to put us up 41-38.

Don't forget the huge 3rd and inches stop we made with about 6 mins to go. Pushed UVA back a yard and made them punt on 4th down. The following possession was when we took the lead.

I can't find any current stats or info on the record, but on that broadcast, they mention that the scoop and score made it the 5th consecutive game our D scored a TD and that it was a record. Anybody know if we still hold that record?

I'm pretty sure Alabama tied or broke the record for most non-offensive TDs this past year. But 1) no clue how many consecutive games they did it in and 2) non-offensive is not the same as strictly defensive. So I don't really know either. #CSB

Not only were ours defensive, ours were also all fumble returns. No pick-6's in there.

Oh wow, yeah I wouldn't be surprised if we still held that record. That's pretty insane.
