Adidas outbid Nike for the Jackets contract

I keep seeing people on Twitter talking about Adidas taking over football jerseys this year but I can't imagine that being the case.

Because Nike has made its reputation off of nostalgia and retro shoes. There is nothing coming out of Nike that is cutting edge anymore
But they are awesome at using shadows when they take pictures of their football uniforms

My first comment on this was "öööö. They messed this up too." But after thinking about it, that's not true. I wanted Nike but Adidas is a much better option for us than UA and may turn out better than Nike.

Adidas is on the come up in both culture (Yeezys, AdiBoosts. etc.) and in the quality of their latest football uniforms. This may end up great for us.

I was wondering that last night when they said they had an announcement, b/c it's weird that they would announce this partnership right before the season when our contract isn't up until July 1, 2018

Edit...gtbuzz just shot down my thoughts there...

So all of that buildup for a written press release? I was at least expecting some sort of streaming press conference with some concept uniforms or something.

Effective July 1, 2018

Here's the official PR: http://www.ramblinwreck.com/genrel/082217aaa.html
Which, I assume, means that we won't get a reveal of the new uniforms until after that date. This figures, really. Should have known that when Russell left, the door would hit them in the ass on the way out, rip off their discount pants and frighten them so badly they piss all over the carpet and walls. Again.

My daughter is in loss prevention at Academy Sports and said the Adidas reps are the coolest and nicest.

I wonder why they decided to announce it now and then trot our entire 2017-18 athletic program out in Russell gear? Not a huge deal but I just wonder who that benefits
