This one hurts, and it's going to hurt for a while, but if we can improve on mental mistakes, we will be capable of beating Miami, Clemson, and UGA. We are going to have a really fun season where every big game is going to be a fight till the end. We may have lost, but everyone is going to be miserable at the thought of playing us this season. That's an encouraging thought, and I'm even more excited about this season now.

Just something to think about to mitigate the misery. Also, think of 2 full seasons of Taquon Marshall!

You're overrating UT. They aren't very good.

GT has a good QB and B-back. Defense is suspect--one QB hit all night and a complete öööö show on special team that will cost the team more games.

GT will likely be in many shootouts this season.

UT may not be great, but we pushed around their DLine like they were nothing. That is really, really encouraging. Remember the days of floppy fish technique?

I remember those days.

Our D still can't create a negative play or rush the QB. Now, grease fire special teams.

GT looks to be in for some shootouts this season.

Hard to say the team is really good when D crumbled and ST play terrible the whole game. Offense was great, but theres more too football than gaining yards

You just gotta accept that our D is not going to win us games very often. They just have to not lose them for us, and they definitely didn't tonight. Turnovers and special teams did.

Not ONE. Not ONE damn big play when needed. But hey - look at those O stats.

PK / FGK - don't know what to say. I know he feels bad, but the coaches did not have him ready.

I'm ok with some shootouts... Especially with Marshall as our main weapon.

Again, our D is what it always has been. But yeah, STs were atrocious. Woof.

You're right. There's also ball security. With more of that, we win handily.

So what if we pushed them around? They are nothing compared to the DL we will see vs cu, vt, um, ugag.

The glorification of O stats to the detriment of all 3 phases of the game is why we only have about a 54.5 winning % against FBS teams the last 10 years.

I am so angry because tonite could have been so relatively easy to avoid.

If we can't kickoff and win field position or even come in the neighborhood close on FG's we will struggle against Miami and Clemson - both worlds more fundamentally sound and more talented than Tennessee. Miami and Clemson have scary good DL's, Tennessee not so much.

Look, I get the anger... We grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory. But the D was not why we lost. They were good for most of the game until they fell apart at the end. That's exactly what our defenses have been doing for a decade, except the falling apart usually starts in the 1st quarter. All I trying to say is that this can still be a great year, and hopefully that thought can be helpful.

The defense was a joke for over half of the game come on. As soon as those QB decided to play we were a joke

So why are y'all surprised or angry that we are a joke on Defense, then? However you view the D, they've been like that forever. Man, y'all remember some of the Ds Lil Joe had to work with. Prevented him from winning a Heisman. This has been going on forever. ööööing Wake Forest...
