655-369

What this program needs is a year when we beat vt, cu, ugag, and um with an average of 200 yards rushing & 100 yes passing.

We were the better offense and defense tonight. But, in this Bobby Dodd Bowl pitting his alma mater versus the school he coached, it is fitting that the kicking game made the difference. You have to be prepared to execute on special teams. We were not. So, chalk this one up to Jones stealing a game because of better preparation and execution in the kicking game. I believe they called that "Dodd's luck".

UT had all spring, summer and fall to prepare for us and we still put up 600+ yards with a new starting QB and BB. Imagine what's going to happen when teams only have 1-2 weeks. Imagine next year when TM and KB are a year older and the new ACC rules kick and and we have no more than 1 conference opponent with a bye before playing us. Next two years on the Flats are going to be exciting.

The last time I was both equally bummed and excited after a loss was after the 2014 ACC Championship. Buckle up...

Leading the nation in rushing offense. Topped Army's performance against Fordham or whoever it was.

Our offense was better than theirs was but one reason for the gigantic yardage disparity is that we generally started from the 15 and they started from the 40. Or at least it felt that way.

Yeah. Crappy field position for GT all game. Might have been one drive which started near midfield. UT had only a couple that did not start near midfield.

Gents, this is what we do. I have been watching these kinds of giveaways for 60 years. Last night was special in that we figured out to give the game 3 times in the last 4:30. Obviously the fumble when we were going in to score, then the overthrow on the totally wide open receiver and finally the blocked FG. It's in our DNA. That said, I thought the offense was borderline spectacular and the D was good for 2 1/2 quarters. Sadly, when was the last time we got a stop to win a game?

Derrick Morgan's 4th down sack against Wake Forest in '09 is literally the last one I can remember.

When we went up 14 with 13 minutes to play, a bunch of Tech people around me started to leave. I said "they must not be real or long time Tech fans, I've seen us lose many a game with a lead like this".
