The triple option 10 years later

I think our ol' ball coach has pretty much proven himself a winner at the major conference level. I've grown so used to the TO offense that I find it hard to watch other teams do weird things like punt or not score a lot of points. Assuming coach retires here (5 years?), do we continue the offense now that its our identity? Without the TO, we werent much on the national scene. Now *everybody* knows what we do and knows about us. I'd almost hate to go back to a standard offense. Look what happened to Ga Southern after they lost their identify.

Can you imagine going from this back to Chan Gailey?

I doubt we will, but that's only because I think it would be a good idea, and I'm always wrong about football.

I think CPJ will be here longer than 5 years. Seems like a Bill Snyder type. Will coach until he feels his mind isn't sharp enough, whivh will be a long time.

After that... Monken.

Edit... did not realize that Paul Johnson is 5 years younger than Nick Saban.

Aside from Ken Imnotgooglinghisname, who else lives and breathes the triple option that would come on down? Ken's said before that he's just peachy up at Navy and I assume he's going to retire there.

I mean, I personally want to keep option football, because I don't want to go back the dark days of boring-ass pro sets or watch poorly coached zone-reads all Saturday long.

You guys must have not been in the Bioengineering quad recently. CPJ, at least his head, will be coaching this team for a long, long time.
Are they making a monster CPJ in there?

I hate, hate, hate the double option - what I like to call the shotgun option. Only option is handing to back or keeping

I heard Nick Saban was pretty peachy at LSU before he ended up finding what turned it to be his actually permanent home with the Miami Dolphins.

There's a world of difference between the guy who's been happily coaching at a military academy for close to 10 years and has turned down other offers and Nick Saban.

Monken?

If we're assuming CPJ is going to be here for 5-plus more years, Monken or even Bohannon could have a good enough resume to make the jump by then.

I bet Tevin could call plays pretty damn well. Not sayin', just sayin'. We don't necessarily need the HC and the OC to be the same guy, either. Maybe we'll pick up a recruiting focused HC and somebody at the OC level to run the option.

Ooh, how about a recruiting focused, but also defensive mastermind HC, with a triple option guru OC. I'm getting needlessly hyped thinking about it.

Coach Monken and Coach N have both demonstrated they can run a whole program and have a good triple option offense. I am not sure if the latter would leave Navy, but I think the former would come back to Tech.

So all we need to do is hire two geniuses, with one of them being good at recruiting?

I'm going to forward this info to Stansbury. Delete this post before another school sees it.
