Has the CPJ era ‘Jumped The Shark?’

UVA isn't necessarily a pushover. They still have even or slightly better players than we do. It's time for people to realize GT isn't better athletically than UVA, UNC, Pitt, Duke. We are mostly even or maybe slightly behind some of those teams. Clemson, Miami, ugag, Vt are all better than GT. We can beat the first list sometimes half of the time or more then beat the second list sometimes and that is still the coaches coaching us up. There is no magic coach who is going to do better. The ACC has gotten better especially in coaching hires, we haven't gotten worse.

Other coaches might recruit better: Gaily. Some coach better: Johnson. Find one who can do both and win at tech, they usually bolt for a better job: curry, Ross.

Just curious what the thought was -and I’m a bit frustrated right now.

Personally I do not think the program under CPJ has jumped the shark. Under CPJ, GT has won 9 or more games 4 times, finished 1 or 2 in the Coastal 6 times (although in the last 2 seasons, and soon possibly the last 3, GT has finished in the second tier of the division -hence the ‘JTS’ question). He’s defeated UGA 3 times -none in Atlanta.

The CPJ era is the best for any GT coach in my lifetime. I expect more seasons of 9 or more wins, and realize that there will be seasons of 7 wins or fewer that will come along as well -iiwii.

This season has just been frustrating from the get-go -blowing the UT game, could have defeated Da U, I witnessed yet another GT team get outmanned at Clemson in person at Death Valley -in yet another rainstorm. Today was the worst though. I expected to get outmanned vs Clemson, but there’s no excuse for today. The QB play, o-line, D not holding a lead late, and the God-awful ST play have beaten me down over the last few weeks.

Here’s to better days -hopefully next weekend.

I will say I absolutely love option football when it's clicking. I don't think offensive football gets much better than what we saw in 2014. When it's not clicking, however, it can look like some three stooges dogshit, and has me pining for the versatility of the Friedgen days.

There is no major college team other than the service academies with the recruiting limitations we have. We have to run a unique offense to offset the talent differential. Even then the margin of error or injury is paper thin. Unfortunately there is not a work around with the defense. The problem is not the coaches.

When the coach doesn't look at his starting QB's stats two games straight and pull him it is. Damn Iowa State won a few big games with a walk on third stringer and yet we treat our backups like they are wholly unprepared for play. Who's fault is that if they aren't prepped to play? Lucas Johnson is already playing. Put him in. Play him.

I've been watching old games thanks to gt bob of how Hamilton ran the option. That offense was amazing and even balanced as a throwing and running offense. Does Hamilton have a son or something??

I mean, öööö. UGAg is starting a true frosh who gets better every damn game.

Just in case you were serious, yes; but I believe he is around 12.

So my point is if we are going to fix something it needs to start with the schools commitment to football. The money is out there to improve facilities or hold on to good coaches. Wherever it's going to start it must start. All I see at GT currently is "let's don't tell our fans we only do this to subsidize the cost of the other sports".

For the past three games, we have no identity on offense. Clemson smothered us, and with good reason ( that’s the party line, right? nfl line talent, defending national champs, etc), wale made us come from behind largely on Taquon scrambling, and uva made us a passing team (inexplicably).

Special teams is officially a horrible joke, given that harvin executed the last kickoff ( not going to expound on the pitiful prior kickoffs).

No continuity or identity, and the d is under tremendous stress each game. They are screwed no matter what... the offense can’t produce a lead or protect a lead when 3 and outs are the norm.

You decide where the change from this stasrts...I have a good idea, and I don’t see it happening anytime soon

Matthew Jordan would have gone in today if he wasn't injured.

I also didn't realize how much the TO is apparently hurt by the rain.

Its not affected by the rain. This year's team just sucks. OL is 2015esque and our quarterback's best play is take off running for his life.

We've lost all our close games. This recipe does not make a special season.

It's like Murphy's Law 2017 GT Footbawl

TM isn't great at running the offense. Jordan will have a hard time staying healthy once the defenses adjust to him. If there is an answer to save this season it will need to be someone we haven't seen.
