Do you still enjoy the Option Offense?

I enjoy it. I remember calling out plays hammered from the student section during the Chan years. It is an equalizer. We can't do what everyone else does. The problem is $$ not scheme.

Yes, I still enjoy it. Like any fan of any team, I don't like whiffed blocks and getting shoved off the LoS, but changing schemes won't magically cure that.

Nothing to do with PJ. Are you sick of watching the option or do you prefer it? I don't think we will be any better if we go with a pro style offense but I am starting to get a bit bored with it.
Just for the record because I see wording such as yours quite often. You guys DO realize that going away from the option offense does not mean necessarily going to a pro-style. I mean, there ARE more than 2 types of offenses.

Not only do I like the offense, I wish we'd just stop passing. Like, entirely.

I like the offense when it works. It works when we run a true triple option well. It works when we are diverse - wheel routes, counters, rocket toss, short pass, play action thrown deep, midline - all mixed in with the triple option the basic staple play. When we shrink the playbook, run the option poorly, pre-determine rather than read, this offense is terrible. I guess the difference is personnel. It was beautiful with Nesbitt, Dwyer, Allen, Jones and Thomas. It was nice in ‘14 and ‘16 with JT and Bbacks like Days, Laskey, Marshall and Mills. This year not so much.

Solid post right here.

If CJP adds in some short passing plays, slants etc. It would be so nice.

Like CPJ said in the call-in show, short routes don't make sense when the DB is playing in your face.

DB's have played close both for the short routes and to take the A-back. The way to punish them is with PA, long routes and separation. The VT and WF games show how to do this.

A lot of posts and comebacks are called on 3rd down because that's when DB's play further off. TQ missed two throws to receivers open underneath though.

So basically he's saying our wideouts can't beat dbs on a inside move on a quick slant That's a sad thing to admit.

Still love the offense. Even when it doesn't work I still enjoy watching how the play develops and identifying what we should have done. Don't know how I'll go back to watching a different style offense.

Our offensive line couldn't even push Duke around last week. What'd everyone seriously expect??

The offense is fine. Need much better players on both sides of the ball. The defensive line and linebackers are total liabilities. ZERO pass rush for several years running now.

I think we will have to run some version of the option. It's obvious that CPJ's version has been passed in our league. We need innovation, and he's not willing to do that.

I like our offense, when we have the personnel to run it. I believe our talent is more the problem as opposed to coaching, and offensive schemes. Georgia Tech is a premier school, we should be able to find 20 premier guys a year in this world. I think recruiting is primary issue. We were manhandled by DUKE!! ... and certainly manhandled today. Tired of seeing red jerseys body slamming our team!

We need player talent like a stud WR to keep defenses honest and a QB with an arm. Also need stud O-linemen who can drive block like Shaq Mason.

Honestly, I'd take a 7 - 5 "Pro Style" (whatever that means) team to a 7-5 "Spread-Based Option" team. I know what this administration can give us, and I know we punch over our weight. Saying this, sometimes change for change sake is good. I believe CPJ is under contract until 2020, so I wouldn't expect any changes this year, or maybe next, but I don't believe we extend this contract nor do I believe we continue this offense after 2019.
