AJC: Nate Woody to be next DC

"Tech's campus is closed"? WTF? GTAA doesn't work this week? Stansbury can't get off the couch to get a deal done? That's pretty bush league.
I’m sure the problem isn’t Stansbury. But the legal department is closed, HR, admin... hiring a DC isn’t that important that those people are going to give up their holiday week

When this falls apart... man, we're gonna have some excellent Hill-bashing fodder.

Needs links to Appy St board for the opinions that matter. Seems they think it's a big loss so good get for us (also think we're limited with CPJ at the helm)

Thanks for that link... Two observations:

(1) Grateful that App St fans recognize we're a step up. Around here people are talking like we're Wake Forest or Maryland or something.

(2) Very grateful that App St fans are sad to see him go. It can be risky to fire a guy who 'just needs a fresh start' — but it's always risky to hire a guy who 'just needs a fresh start.'

Looks like a good hire. When this gets done, let's all get positive and welcoming.

I don't really understand what makes this a "good hire" unless anything new = good hire

If you haven't noticed, Maryland is out recruiting the hell out of GT nowadays. They may be saying the same about them not being "Wake or GT" soon enough.

Im just glad we have a DC who can shutdown Sunbelt defenses. We have never had that before.

If he can come in and be like the upside of Tenuta then we have something.

The downsides of Tenuta were - no gametime adjustments leading to some blowout scores AND he supposedly hated recruiting although we got some of the best defensive players in the past 30 years during his tenure.

If Woody can come in and recruit us some players and stop that Miami bubble screen then we might have something

Yes, if Woody can be better than Tenuta then he would be better than Tenuta. Of course I have been told over and over how terrible Tenuta was. So I guess that is a low bar for Woody.

Tenuta was sort of a one trick pony. He would blitz, blitz, then blitz some more. We would feast on inexperienced QB’s but Matt Ryan with an experienced OL was just awesome against us.

We left Pat Clark at corner on an island during that game with no help whatsoever and that still pisses me off. He was new to the position and had been pulled over from WR. I actually noticed Ryan pointing out the coverage when they could get Clark in favorable matchup. I don't blame Clark one bit - it was Tenuta not giving him help.

That and that was NOT pass interference by Guyton. I hate Matt Ryan. I am glad every time he throws an interception for the Falcons and looks like an idiot doing it.

Yep. 24 points while our offense completely öööö itself. Amazing.

There aren't many Matt Ryans come around too often. Add to that, the BC ol was allowed to hold way too much. Either way, you aren't going to go through many seasons without getting blown out by someone. I think most regarded Tenutas def. here successful. The O couldn't score.
