Time to step up

He was trying to sell you a car.

As long as we just sweep the biggest issue facing our recruitment of athletes under the rug then don’t complain. And you in particular, if I’m not mistaken, are one of the more vocal complainers.

Okay. Good points guys. Tech’s academics are not an issue in recruiting. Will donate more money so we Twitter better.

It is easy to see why Tech does not do better in football recruiting. In order to come to Tech a recruit needs to be:
1) Academically capable and confident of doing the work with tutored assistance,
2) Have an interest in a STEM focus,
3) Be ok with playing in a smallish stadium with spotty support,
4)Be ok in playing for a school that is generally disrespected in its own home territory, AND
5) Not buy into the fake news negative recruiting that the offensive system will prevent you from making it in the NFL (even if you play defense).

Piece of cake. Those dudes have to be lining up to play here.....and they are.....both of them.

I like it that our school ha a reputation for being tough. Sorry, but I'm not willing to cash that in for a couple of wins.

Yea, Techs academic reputation will totally plunge if we are better at football.

Comments like this are why people hate Tech fans. Totally arrogant. “Look at me I have a little peeper but I’m so smart!!!!!!”

Anyone cryfacing this or disliking it is out of touch with the realities of our program. This post, while somewhat sarcastic, hits the nail on the head. Everything SolJacket points out is on point.

How about Tech's academic reputation remain what it is *and* we win more games? I'll never understand why some fans think the only way to improve our program is to turn into another SEC school.

Bottom line: If GT can sell out the stadium for every game for 5 years, recruiting will improve

Having some majors that don’t require Calculus 1 (which I got a C in and lucky to not get a D in, without athletics to worry about) and Physics (which I got a C in) probably won’t turn us “into a SEC school”. We’d probably not even be FSU (an ACC school not known for its academics). I think it’s time for Tech alumni to get off their collective high horses and recognize that this is a detriment. Not just to recruiting better student athletes but also regular students who may want to come to tech but don’t see the majors that they’d want to pursue.
