Super Bowl Starters as Recruits

Fascinating analysis. Basically stars only matter if you are a 4 or 5 star, with everyone else a crap shoot.

It’s the system not the players.
Is it the system, or the quarterback? I think it's a pretty fair question, because a great QB can completely change the team.

Either way, Brady is not surrounded by a lot of talent on either side of the ball. They've had a lot of "star" players leave and suddenly look mediocre in a different setting.

. . . They've had a lot of "star" players leave and suddenly look mediocre in a different setting.
They have also had some mediocre players come in and suddenly look All-Pro. It's definitely a system thing.

Chris Hogan on the Patriots is a former lacrosse player which is particularly interesting to me. From an article on him:

At his 2011 Pro Day, Hogan pumped out 28 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. For reference, hundreds receivers have participated in the NFL combine since 2011, and none have matched Hogan's total on the bench. Perhaps the number confused analysts attempting to project Hogan into the NFL. On Hogan's NFLDraftScout.com profile, he is listed as a fullback and a special teamer, not a wideout.

"I've worked with athletes from every single NFL team, all 32 teams," said Hogan's trainer, Mike Guadango. "I've worked with pro athletes for about 10 years now. Chris is probably the best athlete I've ever worked with."

I wonder what the Pats' rating would be if Dont'a Hightower were healthy. He was either a 4 or 5 star guy at Alabama.
And I really thought Shaq was a 2 star kid out of Tennessee.

Second best lacrosse player ever in the NFL?
