After a battle with leukemia, Chappell Rhino passed yesterday. He was a member of our 1952 National Championship team and father to Randy Rhino, Tech All American. Arrangements are currently being made.

R.I.P., Sir.

He raised an incredible family.

Believe he made a big play to help one of our greatest GT teams beat ugag.

If it's the one I think you're referring to (my Dad took me to the game in Athens), it happened right in front of us - a jump pass to Buck Martin for a TD. As I recall, this play seemed to ignite Tech, who looked like they had been sleep walking until then.

Darn. He will always be remembered for throwing the halfback pass that beat UGA and paved the way for that championship. Part of life, but hate seeing more of Dodd’s guys gone

He was best friends with a recently deceased friend of mine. RIP!

I refereed games at Briarlake church basketball rec league when Chappell coached his son David’s 11-12 year old team. He was a super nice guy, drafting a special needs kid to be on his team and really making the basketball season a great experience for the kid. Danny and I were classmates at Tech and Tim graduated from Henderson High with my brother. This was truly a fine family with great ties to Georgia Tech. Prayers for the family.
