option to compete? We had pretty good offenses under Fridgen didn't we? I actually think CPJ's offense has hurt recruiting. I 'm grateful for the 4 good bowls CPJ has taken us to but it looks like our talent level has really dropped since 2014 & 2016. Have our fans and admin decided we are in the same boat as Army and Navy and we cannot recruit the talent we had in 1985, 1990, 1998-2001? And don't forget about the talent that Gailey and Griff Smith recruited and left CPJ for his first two years. CPJ's offense can really cook at times but I think it's time here at GT has run it's course. We are in the ACC, not the Sunbelt. CPJ took us to the Orange Bowl for the first time since 1966, but I think it is time to move on

I agree! Our talent level has dropped significantly over the past decade. Stating the facts - Georgia Tech football is simply not a good product today.

I think we have to run a unique offense to compete, but the 3O? If we ran one of the Big 12 type offenses, we would have recruits recruiting us.

If we could’ve kept the triple option sexy we could do it. But we lost to UGA in 2009, failed to sustain in 2015 and the rest is history.

Bulovas flipping killed us. We win both games with a kicker.

Bulovas ain't exactly lighting it up at Alabama

To the original post - Gailey and Johnson seem to stick with their "thing" no matter what.

I think most fans of GT come from a mindset of fixing things that don't work (graduate or sidewalk fans incl). Most of the populace does not have this mindset. What were seeing is how most people, even smart folks, deal with problems. Ever worked with a senior software developer in their twilight years? Paul and Chan give me the same vibe. They ain't changing öööö.

Most fanbases want to fire someone after the first below expectations season because they're led by emotions

How about after three in a row?
Well, we won 9 games in 2016, but your point still stands. We appear to be trending downward pretty significantly, and unless we make a major turnaround to pull off 7 or 8 wins, Johnson will have lost a huge portion of the fanbase for good. Hell, I've been a huge fan even since he was at Navy but he finally lost me today. We're just not well coached anymore.

Yea I thought we had a decent year since 2014, but I'm to the point where I can only see the bad with Paul. He lost me after USF. He can win out this year, and it'll be a cute story, but he's got to go.
