Wracer, I think we probably ran the mid line or veer, whatever you want to call it, maybe a half a dozen times.....maybe more. Seems like most times we ran it and pitched the ball we had some success a good portion of the time. The rocket toss does seem to have disappeared though.I don’t remember any calls from what was our base play. The rocket is mostly gone too, although TM is too slow on that pitch for it to work.
Play calling ain’t the problem. You’ve got to be able to take what the defense gives. And we can’t. That’s on Paul but the failure comes at a different stage of the coaching process.I've said this for the last few years. The whole "no play sheet" thing....it's getting old. I know CPJ is smart and is a master of his offense, but I think he gets lost in the game and "forgets" some plays:
- We don't have great WRs, but when they have a 10 yard cushion, we should be able to complete a smoke route...we rarely try.
- WR reverse to keep the safeties honest.....I feel like this should be once every game or two
- Rocket toss - where did it go yesterday?
- Backside drag route to A-Backs?
- Belly - where was it yesterday?
Calling plays is tough (even with a play sheet). I have been an OC for 15 years. Now, try to yell about special teams, work the refs, think about substitution patterns for particular situations, make adjustments.....why no use a sheet? It's narcissism.
Yeah, TM was a HS QB. He should be able to make those throws to Camp 100% of the time. CPJ needs to coach him up or sit him down.Play calling ain’t the problem. Yep, it's weird that we're complaining that CPJ can't coach up a QB, when that was the primary knock on CCG, too. I guess coaching up QB's is really pretty hard.Yeah, TM was a HS QB. He should be able to make those throws to Camp 100% of the time. CPJ needs to coach him up or sit him down.
