First trip to Louisville, so here are some thoughts about the game environment and such.

Our fans really showed up. Good numbers, and loud and excited from before the kick until the end. Way better than Pitt or USF. Wish we could have that sort of energy at home.

Louisville fans were fine. Nobody said anything to us or got hostile or anything, they just left us alone. It was a pleasant environment.

All their stadium seats are non-folding plastic bucket seats. Kinda comfortable and nice, actually.

Their crowd was pretty sparse - no way it was the 51k announced. More dense on the visitor side than the home side, but pretty light.

They give visitors decent seats - a whole lower deck section kind of on the goal line. Some of the better road tix I’ve gotten through Tech.

Their band was surprisingly small and hard to hear at the opposite end of the stadium.

They didn’t bombard you with ads and announcements and PA music. There were some, but not too frequent and at a reasonable volume. Wish our home team would pay attention to stuff like that.

They seem to have a random mishmash of traditions. They have a sledgehammer, ring a bell, spell, wear hard hats, play Enter Sandman, etc. Didn’t seem to really have a signature identity thing that I could identify.

They have boxing gloves they hang around their necks after scoring in garbage time.

Yeah Saw that. Is that a Mohammed Ali thing?

I remember when Mayor Maynard Jackson beat Ali in a boxing match

Also, there probably were 35,000 people and 51,000 teeth in the stadium at kickoff.
It looked like at one point the upper deck had a tarp covering it. At least we aren't to that point yet.

The 'ville fans I sat near in section 106 were pleasant and seemed very interested in GT. One lady asked me in the 3rd quarter after our back up QB scored his 1st TD, "Who have you lost to?". It was kind of embarrassing having to admit that along with Clemson, we had lost to USF and Pittsburgh, especially Pitt. Another man asked me if watching our offense got boring, and I had to tell him that when I watched a similar offense at Oklahoma and Bammer in the 70's, yes, it was boring, but when it is your own team, and they are dominating the opposing D, it really is fun.

How can it be boring when you're putting up 59 points? Every offense is boring when it's not working. We had boring offensive games with Calvin Johnson on the roster. This offense has rewritten the offensive record books at Tech - I really wouldn't call it boring.

It's like these people don't remember CCG and the 2006 ACCCG. Or they don't watch any other football games. 'Boring' has nothing to do with the offensive scheme and everything to do with success or failure.

Six points with arguably the greatest wide receiver to play the game. Pro style offenses aren't inherently exciting. Winning offenses are exciting.

What the hell?!? Our O is many things, but boring is not one of them!

Were there significantly more Tech fans in attendance for a road game than usual to a comparable cross division opponent? Sure seemed like it but may be due to the performance.

No, I think it was just that the stadium was half empty, so it seemed like a bigger Tech crowd than normal. Plus Tech fans actually wore gold.

The triple is only boring if you don’t know the offense. Just like warmtching many sports, knowing what is going on makes it more exciting. I could never watch nascar, but I hear that once you know all the details and planning issues, it gets exciting.

Passing has that flash of the ball in the air and the reception or drop or QB pressure. Like black jack it is constant highs and lows. The spread option is more consistent running with occasional burst of breakouts.
