Next GT head Coach

Maybe we can pick up RichRod on the cheap. His O would transition well with pur personnel. If he does well, he leaves us. If he does poorly, we have moved towards a more conventional offense and the next-next guy doesn’t start out in a hole.

There are few coaches who would be a worse culture fit than Rich Rod.

I don't think we want our coach to be associated with running trains, that term has gotten a bad rap recently.
Dagny Taggart is managing the gulch project with Mulligan and Galt. Catchphrase is 'a is a'

This probably needs its own thread but if you’re a prospective coach, what do you see here:

PROs:
*Location x 2 (SE and ATL)
*Power 5 conference
*New locker room
*Indoor practice facility
*Fan base ready for new blood
*AD talks the talk about building a program

CONs:
*Narrow majors
*Snooty academic types in charge (?)
*Largely disinterested student body
*Calculus for everyone
*Clemson and UGAg are permanent schedule fixtures that are currently on a different level
Except it isn't calculus for everyone, as has been noted in various threads on this board. If you aren't sure, then go to the Tech website itself and look it up. Tech graduates 60% as engineers, and there are degree programs that do not require calculus. And, I'm not sure if you graduated Tech or not, but if so, I would think you would want academic types in charge. It's an Institute of Technology. Snooty? Well, that sounds chippy to me.

Maybe I am missing something. Since you are certain, you surely can name one off the top of your head that I can then go verify?

I took a look at a couple HTS based majors as well something called a Bachelor of Science in Applied Languages and Cultural studies which at a minimum requires Survey of Calc. If you want to split hairs about that not being real Calc, but pussy Calc instead, I reject the idea that a recruit with his eyes on the NFL will be concerned with the distinction.

What is wrong with Rich Rodriguez? I really don’t know- please tell!

This is from the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts:
Analytical abilities are a fundamental strength of all Georgia Tech students. To help them develop those skills, Tech students are required to take differential calculus, integral calculus, and linear algebra. However, most liberal arts students have an alternative math option more closely aligned with their majors. With the help of their advisors, Ivan Allen students select one of these sequences. About half of IAC undergraduates take each path.

I don't think it's splitting hairs to point out that a Survey of Calculus course is quite different than three courses of calculus (diff, int, linear algebra).

Isn't there any coaches out there named Bobby? We've done pretty well with coaches named Bobby.

yep,
I already told Joe Erwin (Alumni Foundation) that Tech apparently doesn't need my money if Bud can waste 1 mil on thieves.
Not great job on hiring ADs either.
This is the right way to get a coaching change quickly. When money and ticket sales dry up, management takes notice.

For a liberal arts college this FAQ is abysmally composed. Look at the list of required courses for a Literature, Communication and Media (LCM) degree here. It requires either a Survey of Calculus or Integral Calculus(what everyone else takes).

I agree that the (still theoretical) new coach has to be given the freedom to make the decision. Forcing someone on him that he doesnt want would get the relationship off to a rocky start. Just mean that if performance justifies keeping him, the new coach would be smart to consider it.
Isn't that where it started to go wrong with johnson. He fired Tanuta right out of the box because Tanuta was strong willed and could not intimidate him. The rest of the DC's he's had usually were the scape goats for his poor seasons and fired. Now it looks like he has Stansbury under his thumb.Witness the recent contract extension and pay raise.

I care far less about their name than their ability to recruit and be a vibrant and tireless attention getting figurehead that is capable of making quality personnel hires beneath them.
