Def with like 7 wideouts
Why not just line up with all wide receivers and a QB? Break the huddle and spread the field wide. Use various sets to confuse the defense into covering ineligible receivers. At least try it a few times a game

I like it. A lot.

I did like that one of Purdue's TD's was scored from about the one yard line with a heavy set, under center, big fullback to lead the way for the tailback to score the TD. So many teams nowadays are so obsessed with pistol and shotgun they can't get under center when they need to.

And, dammit, Duke looked like hot garbage against UVA. öööö. And we keep losing to them

Queue up the "opposing teams record after playing GT" stats.
I'd understand if it were FSU or Miami or Clemson, but Duke should always lose the week before and the week after and to us and to everyone. Even UVA should always be better than Duke

Why do you believe that Duke should always suck?

Conversely, why should GT be good?

The only thing we know for sure is that our one-sided, predictable-AF FB-Dive, QB-Keeper offense got its ass kicked last year.
We have beaten them 3X with that same offense. We have a QB who obviously doesn't have the skills and desire of JT5 or JFN. Shame Lucas Johnson got hurt. He has a great arm and perhaps could have made a difference. We will see which of the 3 wants to take over next season. Taquan is a converted running back and plays as such. Our coaching staff really needs to be working on prepping his successor

The 2008 pack of mutts was the best of the 3. The 2014 and 2016 mutts weren't on the same level as the '17 and '18 versions. Plus, the 2014 and 2016 Jackets were >>>> the 2018 version.

Couldn't agree more re:LJ. I hope we get to see what he's capable of next year but not sure it's a good idea to make Graham ride the pine for 2 straight years.

I don't see why platooning of QB's is such a big deal to CPJ. I think his hard headedness is just him seeing an "almost" play and thinking the starter just needs to change his read slightly and we are good.

That said, I've heard that TO only has limited plays. That is just bad coaching if true

2014 UGA was ranked 8th, and we kicked their asses. We rushed for 400 yards and would have won by double digits if not for that ööööing gift the refs gave UGA with that 99 yard "fumble" return.

My only concern with LJ is that he's not quick enough to run the ball well. If he can be a legit passing threat, though, we could probably run a lot more dive and rocket toss to take pressure off him as a runner.

Why is that bad coaching? This is probably his first year running the actual offense and he's probably going to be more successful if he's good at a few plays than mediocre at a bunch of them. He looks really comfortable running the load option and I imagine it's because he's practiced it a lot. When defenses have had time to adjust, he's not been as successful.

I didn't say the 2014 mutts sucked - only that the 2017-18 versions are much, much better. And yeah - 2014 was OL domination by us for 4 qtrs. Just beat their asses all game.

I think his running ability was what put him behind TM on the depth chart to begin with. Foolishly, IMO. We are seeing what happens when your QB is your primary ball carrier with the added bonus of not being able to pass.

Clemson is ranked #2 with a true freshman. Our our freshmen QB's idiots compared to Clemson's?

You're comparing our guys to a probable future #1 draft pick?

Anyway it's apples to oranges. The option is about taking what the defense gives you, which requires a lot of split second reads. Lawrence can just pick out favorable matchups pre-snap and his cannon arm makes it just a little bit easier for him.

It is football. Our guys should be able to grasp our offense if they are smart enough to get into GT.
