Anyone making the trip? I'll be Section 107, Row A. Since their team sucks, I'm not optimistic about the game day atmosphere, but we'll see.

Will be my first time there. Any recommendations on what to see/do? Any good bars/restaurants for after the game?

TIA

He's Not Here was, once upon a time, a reliable local bar for drinking a lot.
Also, a great name, obvs.

If you're going we're gonna freaking lose

I'm in! Seats in section 100, I think. Whatever GT sold me.

Beautiful town filled with unbelievably snobby people. Most fun I've had there was when Alabama played at Duke and a lot of their fans went out in Chapel Hill that evening. Bama fans >>> UNC fans

Go to Merritt’s Grill for a BLT. Best sandwich I’ve ever had and close to the stadium. Expect a super long line and for it to be worth it. Als burger shack in Carrborro was recently voted best burger in America by TripAdvisor. I don’t know about that, but definitely the best in the area.

Don’t know where my seats are, but I’ll be there. It’s my first trip to UNC, so I’m looking forward.

This. I was there in 2008 with a large group of GT fans and not a single UNC fan engaged us all day - before, during or after the game. No smack talk or friendly banter etc. Very weird. I seem to remember the downtown area had a good number of bars and restaurants though.

@Deke - The tickets are in Section 106, near all the crying women and children.

Related note, been driving around Chapel Hill with the car flags all week.

Oddly, they say the same thing in Charlottesville.

You can tell real snobs by the fact that they're snobbish about their snobbishness.

PS. I have a degree from UVA.

To be fair I'm going off mid- 2000's game visit experiences to each school...I've lived in Chapel Hill for 4 months now (no affiliation to the school), and from what I can tell the atmosphere around the university and my UNC fan coworkers is pretty laid back, just seems like a chill college town. This may not hold true once basketball starts...The area i live at in south Chapel Hill is fairly rural and pretty granola actually...

No, I meant that in Charlottesville they say that Charlottesville is snobbier.

Section 206 this weekend, better viewing than down in the lower level......much like 224/225/226 lower at BD.

Carolina Brewery on West Franklin Street (great street tacos)
Al's Burgers are very good, the fries are just fair, again on West Franklin Street or Southern Village location
Mediterranean Deli (close to Carolina Brewery) is excellent (gyros platter and hummus)
Mellow Mushroom (yeah...same as the ones in Atlanta, but still decent)
Rise Biscuits & Donuts in Carrboro
Shoppe Meatball Kitchen in Carrboro (very good)
Yogurt Pump for dessert, popular with students & locals (Ben & Jerry's stays busy also and about 40 yards apart from each other)
Caribou Coffee is quite popular in the area
Carolina Coffee Shoppe has been around for ages (on East Franklin), but there is also a Waffle House across the street
Have been to Merritts for the BLT, felt it was way overrated, bacon was under-cooked and bread was soggy.........ugh

For the upper crust, go to:

411 West
Top of the Hill (Columbia & Franklin)
Squids (not close to downtown, but decent seafood), very classic "old money" Chapel Hill restaurant

RW27........been here 28+ years, the town has changed a lot in that time, more trendy and suburban now compared to years ago.

Yes - what NC Buzzhawk said - you may be tempted to get seats in the lower section in Row A - J but those are sh*t seats because the views are obstructed by the sidelines. I'll see you guys there. I'll score tix at the game. No one here in Raleigh is trying to go to see a 1-6 UNC team take a butt effing by us. Go Jackets!
